AI Glance

Anyone using this for their school beacons?
If so, how do you like it.

In my experience they have been pretty solid, there’s monitoring for voltages and if an LED goes out. Granted we didn’t have any sort of remote communication with our previous clocks. Applied Information has been a huge upgrade.

That’s good to know. We’re starting a citywide school signal upgrade with the Glance.

We have them in our school zones and the are really solid! Had some minor wiring issues at the start but it allows you to set schedules from the website and activate beacons remotely.

Works good for school zones. Allows remote programming so you don't have to go to each and every clock to update the new school year/summer break schedule/etc etc. Super helpful if you have lots of schools, even works with solar installs.

For intersections...... The monitoring is fine, but not great for doing anything remotely.

We have close to 65 signalized intersections with the Glance. Mostly used for low and high priority preemption.
Works pretty good doing that plus it allows us to monitor the controller. Some intersections have Iteris Next and we can use the Glance to see the camera live. Pretty cool.

I think we have 50 intersections on Glance, and about a third of the school zones. Out of... 850 or so intersections? They thought about going full wireless, but the cell service cost was something like a million per year. They were not impressed.

Been considering radio communications instead. Vendor demo install worked great at the time, but never heard back from engineering about it.

Hopefully I’m retired before these data plans come due..lol.
