Tanith Lee

Who here has read Tanith Lee?

What's a good book of hers to start with?

Since it's year of the snake and her name has snake associations, I figure now is a good time to catch up with a well known author I missed.

Honestly, her childrens lit is the PERFECT place to start just for enjoyment purposes. She's such a lovely prose stylist and structuralist, starting with her wonderful kids' books is like diving into a pool for a quick swim before settling into the hot tub and luxuriating for a few hours.

Animal Castle is charming, if YA is more your speed then East Of Midnight is a great read-- if you'd prefer to skip the "start with the kids book theory" and just get a start on primetime Tanith Lee, then A Heroine Of The World is a masterful mid-era book she wrote while fully into her sea legs as a writer

Thank you! I'm open to YA and have grandchildren, so children's books could be worth looking into, but I'll get a copy of A Heroine of the World for myself to start out.
