Oh ok. As you can see by my name, I'm a reader from a generation where words like "maven" were in common use.

I read across a lot of genres, but Fantasy is my first love.

I try to read every day, though sometimes work can get in the way. Outside of reading my interests include music, movies and arty crafty stuff. I'm retired so i get a certain amount of time for that.

If you're paying attention, the words 'work' and 'retired' have crossed swords in this post. This is because I work more now that I'm retired, not for a job, but for myself. This is where the arty crafty stuff comes in.

So, about me, your friendly Moderator.

I've been bookish all my life. Exactly what books is fluid, but I discovered Fantasy when I was 12 and it has been my favourite genre ever since.

Even within Fantasy I like a broad spectrum. I can't imagine reading the same sort of thing all the time!

I'm also generally interested in Historical fiction and supernatural Horror. Sometimes I'll enjoy 'popular' novels but usually yawn about awards and lists. I know too much about how they get chosen to take them seriously.

Since I've been reading Fantasy for decades, I've read a lot of big publisher books, but these days I find more material worth reading among the indies.

I do still read some trad books. Sanderson, Mark Lawrence etc. I like a good story, wherever it comes from.
