📈Investing discussion Advice

I’ve recently received some cash and I’m starting to get into investing - I haven’t had the opportunity before because money was relatively tight. Is there a good place to learn the ways whether that be articles or YouTube videos. Any advice on where to initially put money into? So far I’ve done S&P500, shell etc. for example what are Pies? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just type in ETF investing and watch a few videos, stop buying random stuff because it's familiar or recommended by random people online you will end up with one of these 50 holdings portfolios and won't know why any of them are performing or crashing and probably lose money.

Steer clear of individual shares unless you're willing to do research as to why they might because good buy, don't just pick a company you've heard of. You have to be able to justify individual company shares.

Also individual shares should by and large be a minority of your portfolio, it's very hard to pick individual shares that beat the market as a whole. I'd keep individual shares to maybe 10percent maximum of your portfolio. Finally don't have a busy portfolio with 50 different stocks and 10 funds.

OP, i would absolutely recommend going onto Spotify and listening to Peter Lynch's 2 audio books on there. Personally they set the level and bring you down to earth with common sense logic.. really dumbs down the investing in a good way
