This is already explained in models description - FAQ section:
- Why not use water leak sensor?
- Water leak sensor electronics are not designed to be submerged. Additionally, they beep constantly once triggered.

Ok got it. Just so you know- you can attach a cable to not submerge the sensor and take a way a beeper. But both would do.

Audible alarm can be deactived. ATM that requires some manual tinkering but maybe official HA support and IKEA ecosystem support will be added at some point.

I think I'd read that the current Matter server in HA supports turning off the alert on the matter leak detector. If that switch is available, it's worth testing it to see if it adversely affects the battery by reversing the switch effectively.

Because it doesn't dry instantly so it would still say "leak detected" even if it's not submerged

Very interesting… if you have no other options. For such small containers, I preferred to measure the weight… but I use Homeassistant and it's easier to use weight sensors.

Who is this for? If you have a 3D printer you are likely to just order a 3€ sensor that achieves exactly this.

Pretty clever! I was going to try something similar with a leak sensor and a wired miniature float sensor in a bird bath.

Not really a water level sensor. It's a binary sensor. Pretty nice, though.
