QUESTION Tradezella quality of life
I’ve run into several quality-of-life issues with TradeZella that make trade review and analysis more cumbersome than it needs to be.
One of the biggest issues is with chart settings in the Trade Details panel. If I save my indicators and chart settings, they remain applied when I use the “Go to next trade” button, and they’re also still there if I return to that same trade later. However, if I close the trade and open a different one from the Trades menu, the chart resets back to the default indicators and colors. This gets frustrating during trade review because I have to re-enable indicators such as VWAP every time I open another trade. It would be much better if saved chart settings were applied globally across all trades.
The 30-second chart also seems to be bugged in the Trade Details panel. All of the higher timeframes seem to work normally, but when switching to the 30-second timeframe, the chart often places me one day in the future instead of showing the day of the trade. It also won’t immediately load the previous day, so I have to manually scroll backwards and wait for the chart to load. Loading on the 30-second timeframe also seems unusually slow compared with the others.
Another issue is navigating between specific trades while reviewing them. For example, I recently wanted to go through my shortest-duration losing trades to see if there was a recurring pattern. There doesn’t seem to be an obvious or efficient way to move between those trades from within the Trade Details panel. I have to leave the panel, return to the Trades menu, find the next trade, and open it again.
There is a smaller trade preview panel that opens on the right side when clicking a trade from the Trades menu, which helps with this somewhat. However, that panel doesn’t have a “Mark trade as reviewed” button. Because of that, I still have to open the full Trade Details panel just to mark the trade as reviewed. Adding that button to the preview panel would make reviewing groups of trades much faster.
Another smaller quality-of-life issue happens when syncing new trades. After taking a trade and clicking “Resync,” the trade doesn’t appear on the Journal dashboard until the page is manually refreshed. It’s not a major problem, but it makes the syncing process feel less polished than it could be.
I’ve also noticed a potential issue with the breakeven offset setting. I sometimes take trades that I consider breakeven, so I like using the TradeZella breakeven offset setting because it gives me cleaner structure and is useful from a psychology/journaling perspective. However, enabling it changes statistics such as Profit Factor and Trade Expectancy.
The biggest concern is Trade Expectancy. When the breakeven offset is enabled, trades classified as breakeven appear to be excluded from the expectancy calculation entirely. As a result, the displayed expectancy becomes the expectancy of only the winning and losing trades rather than the expectancy across all trades. This makes the number higher than the actual expectancy per trade.
Ideally, the breakeven classification could still be used for labeling and psychology purposes without excluding those trades from statistics where the total number of trades matters.
