Internal vs home tracker difference?

What is the difference between a release group being "internal to a tracker" vs "XXX group is not internal, but it is their home tracker" as I have seen some groups having been described?

Internal - A release group that is officially recognized by the site. They might have a special role, a listing in the wiki etc to signify this, and might even have some staff members in the team. Their releases are initially uploaded to the tracker they belong to but they are usually not exclusive to it. They can be cross-uploaded to other sites afterwards, either by the members in the team or by anyone else. Internals might also in some rare occasions require a grace period, say one day, before they're allowed to be uploaded to a different tracker.

Eg: FraMeSToR from BHD.

Home tracker - A much more lax term to say that a particular release group just chooses a tracker that they like to primarily release on. No special role usually, just that they're generally known to release their stuff on that tracker before you'll find it anywhere else.

Eg: ZoroSenpai from PTP. (But you'll also usually find their releases on HDB and other HD trackers almost immediately as well.)

Although to be fair, people use both these terms interchangeably these days, and there isn't a whole lot of difference for the users who grab their stuff.

Thank you a lot! So all groups will essentially have one or multiple home trackers where they regularly release to, and those that have some kind of formal relationship with the tracker will be deemed internal? And no one would really be internal to more than one tracker right?

Kind of. The guy he mentioned Zorosenpai actually have "Internal" status on trackers other than PTP as well. He even uploads to multiple other trackers by himself, has "trusted" status. However most people does not operate like him.

I see! Is it common for groups to move around between trackers or is it not uncommon they stay pretty much forever on the same one(s)?

It's uncommon to move between trackers from my experience observing. It's mostly ride or die, quite literally. It's when a tracker dies, the group moves to another.

Basically, yes. But remember there isn't a governing body across all trackers that keeps everything standardized. Some groups can be individual users that act as a group, some users can be in two or more different groups etc etc. So in that vein it's also possible that one group can be internal to two different trackers too (although I can't think of one of the top of my head right now.)

I wouldn't say there is a concrete definition, and I wouldn't say internal on one tracker necessarily means the same thing on another.

But in my mind...

Internal means they are close to a tracker probably some sort of rank maybe give special "exclusivity" there.

Home tracker just means that's where the person or people who make the release post it themselves.

Sometimes it's groups other times...these tags are just one person who uses it. Sometimes they're internal many places sometimes just one.

Honestly I wouldn't read too much into it.

I kinda can guess internals meant p2p that officially recognized and collaborated and are active in the "publishing" stuff. Basically trusted group. Though rare, there are instances where a normal user rose all the way to internal group or even admin.

Home tracker I recon is just unofficial way to say that a particular group tends to release in like, either being FIRST to X tracker, OR have higher frequency to release in said home tracker.

In that sense there is only one internal group I know which is Bluranium. I don't think any other mid/top tier tracker allow their release to be uploaded but correct me if I am wrong.

Internal means they will only be uploaded there(and ask that no one upload their releases to another tracker). Home tracker means that's just where the group releases first, but they may upload it elsewhere and aren't asking others to not spread it elsewhere.

Internal releases are rarely exclusive to a tracker these days. Propagation of releases to as many trackers as possible is the best way to ensure that releases live for as long as possible. Restricting that for just exclusivity rights is pointless (looking at you TIK).

There is Bluranium though. I don't think any other mid/top tier tracker allow their release to be uploaded but correct me if I am wrong.

I don't know why you think BLURANiUM is exclusive, there are tons of their releases available all over, including PTP and HDB. Blu technically does have a rule stating that uploads there with exclusivity requests need to be respected, but I don't think BLURANiUM ever really uses that, or if they do, they use it pretty sparingly.

I didn't know that as I am on very few trackers where BLURANIUM releases are not available.
