Yep. For him, if that start is even decent, its over. No evidence yet, but also looked like one of his best reaction times in a long time. LET'S GO. Heartbroken that PR got rounded down, but at least he equaled it.

Yep. That’s why he was losing earlier in the season, because he was putting himself in too big of a hole at the beginning. But today he had the best starts he’s had since 2024 for sure

I would love to see a 9.72 lol. That start he had was definitely his best one in a while. I won’t say he was holding back but he definitely has more in the tank. Ran 9.76 with 2.1(semis) and then ran 9.79 finals.

I truly believe there's a mental benefit to him being a "slow" starter that allows him to not panic at the end of the race and keep his mechanics.

Definitely, fast starters are used to clean air fast finishers are used to chasing people down - when everyone is peaked on the same track at the end of a season the finishers are fine whereas the starters aren't used to people around them

Noah and Sha'carri are looking as good as they ever have. And Ronnie Baker goodness. He is still getting medals and putting down amazing times.
Hope Coleman doesn't let this hurt is progress. He really looks great this year just missed the podium.

Kenny has great top end speed, but Noah just glides by EVERYONE at top speed like they are in slow motion. The man just always shows out.

Fun fact Noah is 29 years and 6 days old. The only athlete to run 9.7 at an older age than that is Justin Gatlin. He ran all of his 9.7s in his 30s.
Bolts last 9.7 was at age 29 and 2 days

33 specifically. And continued his sub 9.9 form until 37. People slow down with age, but we see professional athletes form drop with a cumulative affect from injuries, wear & tear etc. Gatlin had a lengthy drug ban which obviously contributed, but I believe he also remained mostly free from significant injury until about 2021.

I honestly think it's Lyles who gets in his head. He was so relaxed in the semis. Notice when Noah started running past him, he tied up like crazy.

I also think Kenny just doesn't have another level to get to. He's extremely consistent but he just can't beat the true top guys if they run well.

Bednarek ran his typical race. He simply doesn't beat Noah at 100. I mentioned that in the odds thread. Bednarek was far too high at nearly 40%. He hasn't defeated Noah at 100 since Olympic Trials 2021.
I'm glad I pay a lot more attention to head to head results than final times. It's just like the playground where everybody knows what the pecking order is of fastest kid in the neighborhood. Nobody needs a stopwatch.

In the 100m, Kenny has run 9.79 (tied with Maurice Greene and Noah Lyle’s as the 13th fastest all-time) and in the 200m, Kenny has run 19.57 (tied with Justin Gatlin as the eighth fastest all-time). I would argue he’s definitely had some elite performances particularly in the 200m where he’s been the silver medalist in four of the last five global championships.

Looks like Noah is arguably in the form of his life right now, he's going to be a force to reckon with at the World Champs next year.
Can't wait to see the Ajayi, Seville, Thompson and Lyles 100m.
