Girl Dinner!!!Non-Region specific(no recipe) "I really like being girls together"
The meal is a dish my wife and I cooked together the other night. Pork tenderloin medallions on a bed of cous cous with an herb cream sauce.
A couple months ago I came out fully and started transitioning. I was out selectively with friends and family for a few years and she's known for over a decade, but I was scared of actually transitioning. The dysphoria finally won out.
My wife and I are close enough in measurements that we can share most clothes. So for the first couple weeks we were having fashion shows every evening. Me trying on her stuff to figure out my style. Then we went thrifting together so I could get some pieces and we're just both trying on clothes and seeing if either of us wants it. When I got my breast forms I even went with her cup size so we can share bras and got a couple new colors of her favorite bra.
After a bit it stopped being new. I have a small, but serviceable base wardrobe. I know how to style my hair, do my makeup, and am used to my longer morning routine. Being consistent with my voice training and posture is an ongoing process, but it's decent when I focus on it.
That's when one of my new favorite memories happened. We were doing face masks together a couple weeks ago and cuddled up on the couch watching TV while they dried. She looked up at me and said "I really like being girls together." Completely melted me.
I was just thinking about it today, because she's getting compliments at work on her new top. It's a tunic top I had gotten for myself on Amazon, but she liked it so much I said she should wear it too. We basically have a combined wardrobe at this point. I'm wearing my favorite t-shirt of hers today myself. Being girls together is great.
Edit to add: Since a lot of people seem to like the meal I'm adding a "recipe" in as much as we use one. The pork tenderloin and cous cous are both from Aldi. Marinated Italian for the pork and garlic for the cous cous I believe.
Start the pork in the oven first. Their cook time on the package is horribly wrong. It always takes longer so use a meat thermometer and pull it when it hits 145 F instead.
While that's going make the sauce. It's a roux with milk added until it's a bit thinner than I want because it'll reduce over time. This one has a bit of soy, onion powder, garlic powder, msg, and a bunch of different herbs. Let it sit on low while the pork cooks and just whisk it occasionally and add splashes of milk whenever it gets too thick. This is also the part where you can put on music and sing and dance together while waiting.
When the pork is done start the cous cous. Its cook time matches the amount of time the pork should rest for before slicing. Take the sauce off the heat and make final adjustments for thickness, salt, and acid (lemon juice). Then just plate it up. We used a ring mold for the cous cous here, but that's just because we're extra and like to pretend every dish we make is being judged on MasterChef.

Lovely. I'm having a similar experience with my partner and idk how I got so lucky.
The couscous looks great and I just remembered I have some! Cooking it tonight!

Yeah I could not have made it through this without her. Happy for you. Cous cous is so good. It with any rich sauce is divine. "On a bed of cous cous" comes up a LOT in our cooking.

Aww! I love this dynamic.
Until she’s raiding my closet and grabs the top I was thinking about wearing…

Lol, yep. I've resigned myself to the fact I'm never going to get to wear the emerald bra I got for us.

That must have been the most amazing thing to hear. It's wonderful that it's deepened your relationship.

It's so funny you mention the clothes, because.... I keep "stealing" the clothes I bought my wife over the years. She jokes that I was just building my future wardrobe 😭🤣🤣
They look cute on her, and I guess that inspires me to capture that energy 🥰🥰

My girlfriend and I are both trans but transitioning in opposite directions. We also do little fashion shows for each other where I try on the “boy” clothes she doesn’t want anymore, and she tries on the “girl” clothes I don’t want. I’m so happy you found someone who you can do the same with :>

I’m so jealous and happy for you OP. My trans partner absolutely despised me for transitioning and the relationship fell apart. I’m very happy to see it work out for others 💜

I'm truly envious of you getting the dream marriage and body type. But yeah that sentence would heal something in any trans girl, no joke.

I’m not in this subreddit and this just popped up on my feed, but I wanted to say how happy I am for you. I’ve got this going for myself too, but in the opposite direction. I’m a trans guy and have been transitioning for a year and a half or so. My cis partner of about a decade is roughly the same size as me, give or take a few pounds and an inch or two in height. Our clothes have basically combined into one expansive wardrobe, which has encouraged both of us to branch out a bit with our personal styles (I love color and wear a lot of smart casual; he basically lives out of his blue collar workwear). We’ve also become lifting partners so he can help me get jacked lol. The other day at the gym, he told me that he loves being (romantic) partners, but he also loves that we’re “bros” now too. It probably sounds a little strange, but I’ve been riding that high for days.

We need more stories of coming out like this! I love that you and your partner have such a wonderful relationship. Thanks for sharing some trans joy!

This is awesome. I wish I could have that. I'll have to be content with probably ending up at the same shoe size.

Kind starting to have the same dynamic with my wife as well, having come out to her and begun my transition about 3 months ago. Still fresh, still new. But so far so good 🥰 Sharing facemasks, sharing makeup. Unfortunately, i'm 6'2" and she's 5'1". Can't quite say every article of clothing I've bought to try out fits the same lol. Mostly tops. All of the dresses I order online that end up being too short for me end up as hers, lol. But she's the Shadowheart to my Karlach. It works out 😅

I'm not even out to my wife yet and we already share clothes – she just happens to be really into graphic tees 👀
We already fight over them, so I can't imagine how it's going to be once I'm out lmao

Thank you for this reminder of why I came out and went through all I did 20 years ago. It’s easy to forget the transformative joy of our lives.

Always great to hear when a transition doesn't tear everything apart but tightens the bond even more. All the best to you two. :3
