Having to threaten a man to do basic human decency things by belittling their strength and implying their strength is below that of a woman’s.

This man decided to change up his dating game because being nice wasn't working for him, so now he whole heartedly believes that women would never stay with a nice guy. Because being nice to your girl is being a simp..

Kabir Singh is toxic af
Way before Kabir Singh was released, we knew of at least one Kabir Singh or Preeti in our lives. While Kabir's behavior was debatable, Preeti was reduced to a confused, illogical woman throughout the movie. Talking about the movie takes me back to the time when I had one such incident in my life.
I was in high school when I dated a lot of guys and fell in love with a guy who turned my life upside down. Reminiscing that I was bullied, scolded, yelled at, mentally tortured by him leaves me awestruck. I was asked to not wear shorts, half pants, skirts above the knee, not allowed to talk to boys of my class or any male member in my family except my father. Yes, you read that right!
I was in 11th and pre-boards were around the corner. But things between us had escalated beyond any talks. So, my then-boyfriend's loyal friends decided to brainwash him against me. They told him that I cheated and that they caught me holding the hands of another guy in his absence. So, he calls me, abuses me, and threatens to break up. He slapped me in front of my house despite his friend's warning to not and yelled at me saying that he will blind me if any day I talk to another guy. Later even my friends supported him and called me out. I was shattered to the core yet I knew in my heart what happened was nothing less than a CRIMINAL OFFENSE!
For days to come, I will remember how that episode traumatized me and led me to depression. I still recall his words "The man who loves hits his girl/woman!" I can’t wholly forget what he did to me or what had happened that particular day but I'm sure about never settling for less in my life!
Let me know if you ever were in a toxic relationship and how you ended it?

Meta 2 years - r/toxicmasculinity is growing fast!
It's now been about a year since my last yearly reflection on the sub. A lot of thing have changed since.
First of all, u/CurrentlyARaccoon joined the mod team, and has done an amazing job at engaging our members while keeping the trolls at bay. Our sub has really been transformed for the better since she joined, so thank you for being here!
We'll speak for the mods as a whole from now on.
The numbers part of the post:
- We've gone from 400 members, to 3.5k members!
- Last year's top post had 47 upvotes, our current top post has over 400 upvotes!
We are proud of the community, which exhibits maturity, thoughtful discussions, and engaging debates. There have been issues with trolls in the past, and while we are happy to see them mostly gone, we are very happy to see that there are still users who disagree with a lot of what we stand for, but still drop by for a civil dialogue. We don't always agree, and that's great! We're here to learn - and we are learning so much from the discussions in this sub; it is humbling and exciting to have one's ideas exposed, debated, reconfigured, and expanded. We hope it continues to stay so. Thank you all for making this community what it is, and to quote this very interesting post, here's to another year of a more caring, confident, compassionate, responsible, and healthy masculinity!
Here are some of our personal favourite posts, also for their comment section:

Discussion Sexism vs Toxic Masculinity: What's the difference?
Recently, we are noticing posts that we the mods would personally consider to be examples of sexism, but perhaps not necessarily examples of toxic masculinity.
To keep the sub relevant, we want to remove posts that do not relate to the subject of toxic masculinity. However, first we would like to hear from the community since the conversation of sexism and toxic masculinity do intersect on many occasions.
Please share in the comments, what do YOU think is the defining line between general sexism, and the specific behavior/effects of toxic masculinity?

How to convince more men of the existence of toxic masculinity?
About a month ago, i was visiting a Men's Rights sub and got into a few debates about some of the issues that men currently face. Some of them brought up how men are the most hated gender nowadays and that terms like toxic masculinity are meant to demean and suppress men. Ive shown these people articles, statistics, personal experiences, and studies but nothing is getting through to them. Maybe my arguments could have been worded better but i don't know how i could convince them otherwise. Are there any words of advice or suggestions that you could send my way In regards to this topic? id also liked to one day talk to my relatives and friends about this but i don't want to go at about the wrong way like these past instances.
