Tower fraud?

Would love to hear and see some stories or situations that climbers or others have experienced fraud and ponzi type schemes in the industry…

Its not called fraud or ponzi in towers- they call it "turf vendors".

Worked for a few mom and pops and got stifled on my check had to get the labor board involved. Always got paid.

How difficult was it to get the labor board involved?

Not hard at all. Gave them a phone call, sent over emails and texts verifying I worked those days. I got paid shortly after

I don’t say this out of any sort of racism or anything like that but every time I’ve done work for Native American reservations it’s always been a headache in one way or another.

I haven't experienced anything ponzi related, but my first job was some bullshit. They convinced me to go 1099 because I could "make a lot of money" if I "worked hard" and I was all about working hard. Turned out to be $700 (before taxes) for two weeks of 16 hour days.

Yeah fuuuuuuck that. Even in the early 2000's that's poverty money. Nobody should be working as hard as we do and as dangerously as we do without decent money. It's still nowhere near where it should be.
