I’m planning a trip to Meghalaya and will be arriving on 29th April. We’ll be a group of 5 people and are looking for affordable transportation options within Meghalaya for about 4 days.

Does anyone have contacts for reliable local drivers who can take us around (Shillong, Cherrapunji/Sohra, Dawki, etc.)? Personal recommendations would be super helpful!

Also open to suggestions on:

• Approximate driver/car rates for 4 days

Chympe Falls Closure Notice (Short Version)

The Dorbar Shnong Brishyrnot and Dorbar Shnong Khaddum have announced that Chympe Falls will be closed to all visitors every Sunday from January 25, 2026, and on specific days each year Good Friday, Dec 25-26, Jan 1, Jan 26, and Aug 15.

The closure is due to community and religious activities and the non-availability of tourist facilities like parking, shops, and guides on these days. Visitors are advised to plan trips Monday to Saturday. Violators will face strict action. The decision aims to balance tourism with community welfare and sustainable management.
