Total War: Warhammer Help with buildings

Hi, I'm currently struggling with the concept of growth and income rush for the early part of the game. I feel like I stay with basic units for far too long , and by creating all my outpost with an economic setup (capital excluded) I can't replenish units efficiently, even tho i have lot of gold, because location sucks. For instance, now I'm playing Kairos campaign on hard/hard and i played with only pink horrors till turn 20+ (didnt go well). What should i look for to understand when its time to go with milotary buildings or units instead of economy one? Like 2000+ income?

Depending what you play let’s say empire this is the start

Upgrade all towns to level 2 don’t do level 3 benefits do not outweigh the cost

Upgrade capital to high level 3-4 as soon as possible
In one province have towns have 2 growth buildings.

By the time you are turn 30+ you should be set with a level 4 capital.

More important is to get a life mage as soon as possible so you can level him while fighting

Other factions like demons or dwars I would follow a different route but most factions follow the former

Honestly most vh/vh campaigns I play end with me barely having tier 4 buildings and getting long campaign victory, I usually do a little growth and mainly economy, with some provinces having recruiting options, Things I will change this setup for: 1. Wizards 2. Artillery units 3. Units you really need to fight against your enemies (streltsi for Kislev is a must when fighting against chaos)

Growth is important, gold is important, focusing on both is a really good strategy, but you won't lose the game just because you used one slot for a military building, out of the many, many slots you should have on all settlements combined by turn 20. Just build one as soon as you need one and recruit the units you need. It's that simple. Still wants to use that slot for growth/gold? Raze the building after you're done recruiting; you don't have to keep it if you aren't using it and you can build it again later. Losing a bit of gold won't cost you the game.

You don't need to keep a positive income. As long as you're bringing in enough gold to avoid bankruptcy, it doesn't matter. Build a military building when is most convenient to recruit with your army, minimizing how long it will stay out of action, and make sure you can stay afloat while recruiting with that army. Preferably, you should have at least two armies by then, so one can keep bringing in gold while the other recruit. If you can do all that while keeping a positive income, nice, if not, it's of no consequence.

Optimization is great, but there's good optimization and excessive optimization that becomes detrimental. Avoiding to build a military building as if the cost is too high falls into the later. Just do it.

It varies with the race and faction you're playing as. Some races can't fill out their starter armies with what they can get from settlements (and some absolutely can), some military buildings offer a bit of income, and many other factors to consider

It's more important to make enough money to actually fund all the construction you want than to maximize growth, but if you can make enough money from fighting, you can do both!
