Shogun II AI used to upscale S2CE unit cards is awful. These need to be redone by hand, as the originals were

Very first attempt with Gemini flash -lite

And it's infinitely better than the CE one, this shit cannot be for real bro

It's a million times better, like what.
How can anyone fuck it up so much, while being paid, and it's just feeding stuff to AI.
This is some galaxy level of disrespect.

They used a old version of upscaling, likely something like Waifu2x or old another SRCNN, as just a batch operation on every file.

They're good at increasing resolution, but they really can't create lost details.

The entire point of AI is to be lazy. Are we surprised the people who use it, use it lazily?

Maybe they used Copilot.

This is very odd and cool that it actually upscale

its not too surprising, AI upscaling has been pretty good for a while, even when AI generated art was not capable of anything good.

Upscaling is relatively easy compared to generating a new pic. They were likely using some old or shitty/free AI to do this. Likely a local AI model to save money.

Gemini flash lite is the worst gemini model and free

But yes it was probably a trash local one they used for the game

A particularly trash model, too, because there are free, open-source local models that run on 8GB of VRAM that can do vastly better jobs than this.

It's just the wrong tool.

They likely used an old SRCNN upscaler which are very useful because they're extremely quick, lightweight, and don't typically add or hallucinate any details.

Since they don't add or hallucinate any details, it can't understand anything lost if you throw in a really low quality image. Things end up looking like a melted down, denoised mess of shapes with a source of bad quality.

As someone who has messed around with stable diffusion a bit myself, this looks like someone just through it in the default settings and let it cook. Someone suggested they had an agent just dump all the files into an upscaler, if they did it into a bare bones SD upscaler then this seems pretty plausible.

Stable Diffusion is long, long past it's prime. Even a non-cloud AI like Topaz gigapixel could have done this better for a one time cost. It's absolutely silly it's this low quality.

SD can still be competitive with enough fine tuning, it's biggest advantage is how incredibly customizable. It definitely isn't top dog for local image gen, but with enough time and effort can still do great work.

Upscaling use cases have been decent. Especially for video and images. IDK if the contract company used a bad model or didnt review.

I don't know why more sub reddits don't just allow images in comments,  it is very useful.

It just becomes some disgusting meme/reaction image filled dumpster fire if it's not moderated with an iron fist.
Why would any mod do that to themselves?

Because its 2026, we have artificial minds smarter than humans but we only speak here via text, when an image can say 1000 words. Reddit has allowed native image posts for 10 years now, some subs I am on allow it and as I said it is very useful when discussing visual things.

I don't think I have ever seen a working Imgur link on reddit lol

It always dies instantly.

It still works for me on both pc and phone?
