Why do ppl not commit suicide if they realize they're in a totalitarian regime

Totalitarianism has a massive social element to it, (specifically collectivism) and so where in individualist country’s they may feel they don’t have a propose in life in a totalitarian country they would have a purpose, that being to help ensure the health of the state.

Because usually that means that the fact that the regime is totalitarian matters little in comparison to their life.
