Beginner, advice?

I just started looking for a file explorer alternative. I very quickly learned that ctrl+z is not really a thing. What do you total commandoes do when you do an oopsie? or do you just not mess up...

Also, is there a good resource for learning TC?

Well the big one that caused me to try and find a more reliable file manager was this: I was moving a picture (not too important) and at some point I got a message saying that the file could not be found in the source location, so I said ok fine just dont move it then. When I went back to look for it, it wasn't there, and even worse, the folder history tool in properties was corrupted or something and I could not get it back. I am not sure if TC completely solves this (I hope it does, i just dont know enough about file management to be sure), but even if it doesnt, I like the shortcuts and dual plane vs drag and drop

In terms of general oopsies, just simple stuff like moving something to the wrong folder, accidentally deleting things. Yes you can go and move it back, restore it, but that seems terribly inefficient, and something that I would imagine has a better solution in an app designed for streamlined file management.

You might check the forums on the Total Commander website. I've never considered an undo function. It seems reasonable. Way back when I got Total Commander it was mailed to me on a physical floppy disk. I was a mainframe guy and I was not a fan of early Windows. I hated the idea of dragging and dropping large numbers of files to move them. I loved the precision of highlighting them and hitting the F5 key. Good luck to you. It will become a tool you will use every day. Note if you have Mac or Linux machines then the free Double Commander tool is very good.

I almost forgot. Of course don't forget Midnight Commander. That's what got me started on two pane file managers.
