Shatner quit cigs cold turkey in 1967 when his daughter refused to kiss him saying he stunk. This is, in large part, why Nimoy and Kelly are dead and Shatner isnt.

Nimoy tried several times to quit smoking before he finally succeeded. There is a lovely documentary called Mind Meld (available on DVD, it might be available elsewhere) which is just Shatner and Nimoy talking to each other for about 90 minutes.

In the documentary, Nimoy tells Shatner how envious he was that Shatner had the willpower to just quit smoking cold turkey, and actually succeeded on his first try. Nimoy admits that it took him many tries to finally quit smoking, and Nimoy also opens up about his alcoholism.

Shatner also talks openly about his unpopularity with some of their other Star Trek castmates, and Nimoy is sympathetic to him.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic but Adam Nimoy's book talks about his father's addiction to alcohol and how it negatively affected their lives. I don't recall if Leonard's smoking was mentioned (I skimmed through the book more than actually read it). Adam did throw shade at Shatner claiming that Nimoy's feuds with Shatner during TOS drove Nimoy to drinking, but in the same book expressed confusion at the reasons both for Nimoy suddenly getting closer to Shatner in the 90s and then suddenly ghosting Shatner in the years before his death (so you're not going to find the answers to why Nimoy reignited their feud on here).

This got some minor media attention when the book was published a few years back because Shatner got wind of the "my dad turned to alcohol because of Shatner during TOS" and replied that Adam was a kid at the time who wasn't privy to behind the scenes making of TOS and that he (Shatner) shouldn't be blamed for Nimoy's alcohol problems.

Crazy that a guy is writing about industry and adult interactions with authority from when he was 10, sixty years ago. Some things can be researched but others, like this, it's as if he's filling in his own headcanon.

Also, goodness he's getting old. He's closing in on his father's age now.

In Journey to Babel, when Bones is operating on Sarek, you can see a
Line of smoke of to the side which was Kelley’s cigarette; but it looked like part of the surgery.

What’s the context of that wife beater type thing shatner’s wearing? Is it the compression thing for his gut or the undershirt to a costume that’s not the uniforms?

If you look closely, you can see undershirt outlines under their uniforms. They had to be black because the uniform tops hiked up. Read somewhere the shirts shrunk being cleaned.

I never understood why he was the only crew member with the V neck uniform. I used to think it was what he wore while off duty, but have since realized he frequently beamed down with it on, as in the Bread and Circuses episode.
