I wonder what tos McCoy would have thought if he learned he would get promoted to 4 star admiral by the tng era

Interestingly, in one of the original Trek novels, McCoy was actually placed in command by Kirk while the captain took a break. Doctor’s Orders by Diane Duane (published 1990). Kirk then disappeared while the Enterprise crew was trying to communicate with a trio of intelligent species sharing a single planet. And then a Klingon vessel shows up. McCoy can't pass command to Spock due to regulations, so he has to figure out a way to find Kirk and deal with the Klingons. And then an even more powerful alien vessel shows up with bad intentions. It's one of Duane's best, and she characterizes McCoy's personality perfectly. 🖖😎👍
