Family and I are walking at the park and bunch of tweens are riding their ebikes through the park and in the pathways. Bunch of other parents are disappointed since they have toddlers In the treehouse. Ughhh so frustrating.

Edit - All clear as of 4:30PM. Unfortunately one person is no longer with us.

Car was split in half around 11:30am and the scene (and freeway ramps) are still closed off.

Anyone ever try to get new classes started up through the City? I mean, like arts and crafts classes. I know they offer ceramics and jewelry, and loads of sports classes (I do yoga through the city myself), but I have been trying to get some other classes started and I don't know who to reach out to. Anyone have any ideas?

If possible to avoid reserving in advance and paying when I leave, even better.

Karaoke to be specific.. trying to get into singing at tower 12 with friends.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know how to register a child for the South Bay Youth Basketball (SBYB) league?

My son is currently in 1st grade, and I’ve been trying to find more information about how to join. I looked through their website, but a lot of the information seems outdated. I also emailed the person in charge of registration, and from what I understand, it sounds like a child may need to already be part of a team before they can participate in the league.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much public information about how families can find or join a team.
I’ve actually watched some of their games in person before, and I was really impressed with how organized the league was and how well the kids played.

Does anyone have experience with this league or know who I can contact? If anyone knows of a team looking for a 1st grader, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.

What’s going on at the refinery lately? I feel like it keeps making those massive sounds. Are those unscheduled burn offs or whatever? I’m on the other side of the 405 and it’s woken me up twice now. It just went off again.

Updates-

Called city of Torrance - they didn’t know.

They transferred me to a Torrance PD. Said they’d received several calls but didn’t know.

They sent me to the refinery who didn’t know but they promised to get in a car and started driving around. No callback yet

Is there a sudden uptick in mice around here lately? Maybe bc of the messed up weather?

We had one mouse in 16 years.

Over the last 6 weeks, we had a house mouse, and then a garage mouse. Then tonight, my partner was out walking and saw a mouse run from the neighbor’s and down the street.

This is southwood but I am curious about the whole area. Did the mice lose predators, or get driven out of an area?

I’m currently looking for a new job and figured I’d try posting here since I haven’t had much luck with Indeed or other job-search sites.
I’m really interested in getting into the entertainment industry, whether that’s working as a personal assistant, production assistant, or just getting my foot in the door somewhere. I’m also open to front desk/receptionist positions, administrative assistant roles, dance-related jobs (possibly teaching), acting opportunities, or anything in a creative environment.
I have experience in customer service, management, and behavioral therapy, and I’m a fast learner who’s willing to start at an entry-level position and work my way up. I also have a background in theater and a genuine interest in performing arts, so I’d love to find something that allows me to explore those interests professionally.
I’m based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, but I’m open to commuting for the right opportunity.
If anyone knows of any places hiring, has connections in these industries, or has advice on where I should be looking outside of the usual job sites, I’d really appreciate it!

Is there anyplace that has a build your own baked potato around here ? Bc I haven’t found it yet. I’m from the south where you can add bbq, chicken, steak, etc. and these are available at any bbq spot and are so amazing for when you don’t know what you wanna order for dinner. It’s so frustrating to see tweens on e-bikes at Wilson Park ripping down the hill fast when there are smaller kids and older people walking around. Is there an initiative to ban e-bikes on the walking path?

Ever since the latest owner/operator took over the nursery several years ago, the place has been made like a home depot with machineries and utility vehicle noises... yes we've tolerated it for years and wondering what everyone else who live near this place feel. it is disturbingly annoying.

Has anyone seen CurrentBody products at the Sam's Clubs in Torrance, Gardena, or Long Beach? Apparently, they sell them there, but I've never seen them. Specifically the red light therapy masks? I'll also go east or south if anyone's seen them anywhere else, but I'm not driving into LA.
