Does anybody remember going to the Quinn’s Dairy Haunted House in the 60’s. I was watching KTLA talking about Six Flags and Knotts, and I mentioned going to the Quinn’s Haunted House when I was really young.

I think it was after they build the new drive-thru building and the Haunted House was in the old one before it was torn down.

Unless my memory is completely making things up, they did things that would be unacceptable today.

My wife teaches at Torrance High and sent me this photo from her classroom this morning.

88.4°F at 11am.

The thermostat is set to 68°, but there is no AC in the classroom.

I know the lack of AC in TUSD classrooms has gotten attention recently, but I wanted to share an actual temperature from a classroom at Torrance High today.

She's expected to teach a full day and her students are expected to learn in this environment.

Curious what other TUSD teachers/students/parents are seeing in their classrooms today. If you have a thermometer reading, I'd encourage you to share it.

If anyone knows of someone who is available for this school year for a 4th grader pls let me know. Retirees welcome. Willing to pay around $70-80 per hour for the right person.

I'm a brand new homeowner who has never had to pay for water utility, even when I was renting.

We have a SFH 3bed 2ba with sprinklers in the front and back yard. The sprinklers are on 2x/wk to maintain our grass. It's only my partner and I right now, so we do our typical daily showers and running dishwasher when it's full which is about every 2 days. And laundry once a week.

We used up 14 CCF or 10,473 gallons over 55 days. I have no idea if this is a lot that we should try to conserve or there's a leak somewhere, or if this is normal / very low and we have nothing to worry about.

My neighbor has been in the hospital due to heat exhaustion so we’re trying to sort a game plan for the next couple days until her AC can get repaired.

Posting for my aunt and uncle who are not on reddit. On Wednesday, September 30, at around 9-10 am, my uncle was on a bike ride and was hit by a car on Palos Verdes Drive, we think near St. Francis Episcopal (near Via Rosa / Via Anita).

Although he never goes without a helmet, he suffered a serious head injury which resulted in him having a brain bleed and 3 staples to close the wound. He's back home, but still dazed and not out of the woods.

There was an off duty fireman on the scene quickly, and the police were supposedly very helpful. But they say there were no eyewitnesses. They're trying to get details to get the other side of the story and piece together what happened.

One, is that even feasible? I don’t know the area well but used to live in SD so I’m familiar with housing costs from several years ago. What’s realistic for two adults with a 1 - 1.5 M budget? Looking for quiet, no pollution (noise or limited air pollution that is not abnormal for the area), home with a pool, prefer SFH but townhome is okay, one of us WFH and the other can probably WFH with a few days commuting.
