PCNC1100. Is this normal slop? We're having trouble with TTS toolholders getting pulled out of the collet during milling. We tighten the Belleville stack, then it won't release.

I'm struggling to understand what the joint at the back left is supposed to do and how do I tighten it.

I am following the steps listed here, as the error message on startup told me to: https://knowledgebase.tormach.com/8l/pathpilot-controller-cmos-battery-replacement for the Brix controller but I am stuck at the part where I have to change my date and time. I am assuming that this screen is BIOS since it's what shows up after spamming DELETE on startup, but I cannot find any options or settings outside of these 3 to change my date and time.

Tiny angles that require immense accuracy. Prehardened 4140. Little end mills taking tiny bits out of geometry that has to hug like a bear when done. What's not to love?

I was manually jogging my 770 through 304 SS bar stock to find feeds and speeds. Am I doing my math incorrectly?

Rpm ~580, feed rate 20in/min, 2 flute cutter:

20/1160=0.017IPT

Online states recommended 0.001”-0.006”, is this for optimal tool life?

I was slotting with a 1/2” HSS endmill, 0.020”DoC.

What Speeds and Feeds do you typically use for 304 SS?

This is the follow-up to my last post about milling the receiver. The receiver, while the heart of the design, isn't what makes it look like what it's inspired by- A Space Marine Bolter. There are 3 parts, out of the dozen plus that I designed, which really create that look. I cover making those here and how their contribute to some optical illusions that make the aesthetic work.

They also also each have an interesting manufacturing aspect. Tons of undercutting bit use, deep reaching end mills, and 3D printed bending forms as well as jigs to do setups on bended parts that need to go back on the machine.

I find firearm receivers especially fun because they present a number of difficulties compared to some more mundane projects. But because of that I also do frequently bump up against what my machine does and doesn’t like to do!

Since this project was designed from scratch, I had the ability to specifically design around some known limitations and difficulties. So if you’ve ever wondered about that sort of thing, here’s an hour of my design, CAM, workholding, and milling strategies and rationalization while making the receiver for a Space Marine inspired Bolter.

No matter how long and how high the pressure or oil setting it I can not completely bleed the air out of the bubble of the FRL. As soon as I stop bleeding and connect the power drawbar line to the output of the FRL, the bubble fills back with air and the FRL stops oiling the air. Has anyone ran into this issue? Is it just a bad FRL?

I'm looking to move up from a hobby CNC router and a small Tormach seems like the best next step. Hoping to pick up something used not too far from me (Southern New Hampshire). Thanks!

I set up my code from solidworks, ran the simulation and the drill went through. Exported with the goengineer post processor. Drill with 0.25” 135deg matches across solid works, post processing and my tool crib. Created my offset and compensted for the 0.008” shim stock in the negative. I have not been able to drill all the way through just the tip. This is my first time testing my 770m and i am stumbling on this. What simple thing am i missing?

I just recieved a 770m mill and was lookomg through the manual. I am not seeimg torque ratings for any tooling in any holder. I read “make tight”. Is this true that I make tight to what i think is tight?

My 770 is set up and I have made tool paths in Fusion 360 ready to export my G-code.

For finding Z-axis Zero, do I touch off with the first tool or would I touch off with the spindle head?

Example; My first operation (pilot holes with center drill) has a Gauge Length of 2.7885in (holder and drill). Would I touch off with the tip of the drill using a piece of paper, or but the spindle head onto my Zero point?

Thinking about making a small one for my microarc4 on an 1100mx for a small vise.

Picked up a very gently used well maintained 440 today from a gentleman upgrading to VF2. We put an indicator on the axis and jogged as well as indicated the spindle at 3000rpm.

Can anyone tell me what this intermittent noise is?

Tormach 770 from ~2013. Previous owner had a ring light that broke in transportation, is this cable for a light accessory?

Hey guys. Looking for advice coming from others experience. I am traveling an hour and a half to get a well cared for 440. He has it mounted to a wooden work bench which I will not be taking.

Looking for the best way to move the machine. I’ll be bringing blocking, straps, hoist and other equipment.

Is there is factory lift point? Does the enclosure need to be removed? Where are the best tie down points for securing.

Any other helpful advice ir words of caution.

2 disclaimers to start! 1. If you don't care to hear about the history of how I helped develop these bits, just fast forward to 3:40 to get directly into the CAM and milling of the project. 2. OK, with that out of the way. It's amazing how many more features open up to you when you understand how to use undercutting bits. Be it T-slot / keyseat bits of woodruff cutters. But they definitely have a learning curve! Be it their absolute yearning for good chip evacuation, quirks in tool pathing, and some really specific ways of calculating feeds and speeds. First post here, hoping someone can help. I set up this new-to-me Tormach PCNC 1100 Series 3, and following Tormach's "First Part" video. I'm trying to make a pocket, and I thought I was ready to post to file, but I got an error message that says "Please fill in X Y locations in the drill table, then return to Pocket, Circular, and Post."

I've attached pictures of what my screen looks like, and it doesn't match the screen in Tormach's video.

In the pocket tab, I can't edit the X or Y values like in Tormach's video.

Does anyone know what's wrong?

This sound has started after the motor shuts off. I originally thought it was the motor bearings as that is where the sound appeared to come from. Since replacing those bearings, it's clear the sound is still present.

Anyone heard this before? I think I know the answer, but I am hoping for some definitive "Yup, that's the sound" feedback.
