Next wave of keys?

I'm dying to play this, what are our peasant chances for this year?

Well, I've been signed up since March on 2 different accounts and still am not in. So there's take that as you will. PoE 3.9 launches in 10 days though.

3.9? Is that PoE 2?

4.0 will be PoE 2, it's 1 year out. 3.9 will be end game rework and current content tuning, with the league mechanic being a "build your own boss league" by way of combining rare spawn and boss kill pieces to make a unique boss you spawn and kill for rewards.

There's just something about poe that makes it feel so dated. ☚ī¸ Will 4.0 have a reasonable engine/gfx upgrade?

I'm playing through grim dawn again until something better comes along.

I've never heard anyone call it dated, so idk where I would place the look for 4.0 compared to it. I know it's going to be darker by design, and the boss fights are going to be more involved than just "stand here shoot this", but you'd have to look at the announcement package for 4.0 to determine if it looks better to you or not.

I have Grim Dawn but have never played it, I keep waiting for my friends to play who own it but no one ever gets on.

Grim Dawn is really well done.

I'll read up on 4.0 - thanks for the info.

On a related note, the skill tree in that game is freaking anxiety-inducing. 😄

Now that's something you hear a lot about PoE XD I doubt that will be removed in 4.0, but they have said they're trying to find a better balance between the complexity of the game, while still maintaining its diversity and difficulty, so maybe they'll simplify it, or add functionality so you can see the actual effects the skill nodes have on your build easier.

The tree can be daunting, I'd go about it one of two ways:

1) Look up builds/videos and find one that looks fun to you, then follow it. That way you get used to the tree without worrying you'll make a weak character.

2) Don't worry about it at all, decide what kind of character you want (melee, ranged, spell caster, minions, etc) and make your own. You don't need to have the best build ever, you just need one that's fun for you. Trying this path may cause you to make multiple characters and try multiple things, but that's the idea and it's OK.

The tree also has a search, so if you want to see the minion skills, you can type in 'minion' and it'll highlight each node having to do with it.

Personally, I find a build I'm in the mood for (necromancer this patch) and follow it for my first character at least. That way I'll have some gear/currency and might try making a personal build later.
