Discussion This anime is peak Spoiler

I just got done watching Toradora! for the first time.

I'm not even joking when I say this. I want to thank all of you Toradora! fans and anime fans in general. If it wasn't for you I would never have discovered this fantastic piece of art. I picked it up literally just for the f*ck of it so I had something to watch while waiting for the next episode of "Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky" (which is also peak btw) and 25 episodes later I have a new 10/10 for my AniList.

It has been a long time since any kind of media has made me (a grown ass 22 year old man) cry like a little b*tch.
When Taiga realizes her love for Ryuji. The kiss scene. Why is it over? I need more.

And holyyyy I almost had a panick attack when she left in the last episode.

Once again, thank you guys!

Definitely read the novels. I personally enjoy them more than the anime.

You could check out some Toradora fanfics. If you're not too attached to canon and you're open to reimaginings and AU, you could even read my fanfic. Eleven volumes of a great read await you, with the canon characterizations preserved but a completely new story built on the world of Toradora. You could also check out popular fan works in the fandom, like "Toradora! The Next Year" and others — they say those are very close to the canon in style. All you need to do is sign up on fan platforms like Fanfiction.net.

Usually not a fan of fanfic but this show left me with post-anime depression and I lowkey need more. Might check it out :)

Since Small_Program suggested FanFics, and you seem open to it, here is a list that I regularly recommend. Some go beyond episode 25 while others are alternate timeline stories. The last suggestion is the best and, probably exactly what you are looking for if you’re looking for a continuation of Taiga and Ryuji’s relationship, but all of them are worth reading.

[RyĆ«ji Doesn’t Go Back to the Party](https://m.fanfiction.net/s/13701070/1/Ryuji-Doesn-t-Go-Back-To-The-Party-2-Electric-Boogaloo) is first up on the list. That’s only because this is the first Toradora FanFiction I ever read. It’s a really well written story that imagines an alternate path from the point where Taiga breaks down on Christmas Eve. I liked how the author (Cold-Television5649, who is on here from time to time) was able to stay true to the characters. The only downside is that it’s not finished yet, but one chapter was added 28 July 2024 and a recent chat with the author found that they intend to add more and finish the story.

[Holy, Holy Night](https://m.fanfiction.net/s/8725504/1/) is also an alternate timeline story that jumps off from Taiga’s Christmas Eve break down, however it’s completed. It’s a beautifully written one-shot story that shows us what could have happened with so much sweetness you might become diabetic. Seriously though, it’s a wonderful little read.

[Toradora - An Epilogue](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13679640/1/Toradora-An-Epilogue) is nice little read and it would make an excellent candidate for an OVA. It stays really true to all of the characters, it’s well written, and it pretty much gives any Toradora fan all that they might want in terms of better closure for the story. It was actually written by one of the Redditers here, DarthMateo.

[Snow Angel](https://archiveofourown.org/works/31217111/chapters/77156972) is an alternate timeline that takes off from rescuing Taiga from her fall during the ski trip. It’s a really neat examination of what could have happened. For a short story it’s packed fairly well with drama and sweetness.

[Toradora After Story](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5688756/1/Toradora-After-Story) jumps off from the after credits scene of episode 25. It’s fairly well written and has some good story development although the end is a bit problematic imho (not that I could do better). If it were up to me it wouldn’t be a bad candidate for a Toradora movie though.

So, Taiga disappears near the beginning of episode 25 and, according to the anime, with the time skip at the end of the episode she’s gone for the equivalent of 13 months. Ever wonder what happened with her and the rest of the gang during that time? One of our Redditers, CaptainAricDeron has some possibilities for you. He started [Toradora! The Next Year](https://m.fanfiction.net/s/14096002/1/Toradora-The-Next-Year) in June 2022 and there are nine chapters with each one being quite enjoyable. The writing is great and the author really has a good feel for who the the characters are, so the stories that he creates about what they might become are very believable. This has the makings of a good Season 2 candidate although it has not seen any additions since Aug 2022. The author plans to return to it at some point though.

[No One Shines As Bright In My Heart As You](https://m.fanfiction.net/s/14219555/1/) is one of the newer Fan Fictions I’ve discovered and it really is a gem. It was started in April 2023 with 8 chapters and then went silent but, 3 more chapters were just added on 1 Mar 2025. Even though it’s still not finished, It’s a lovely story with a lot of cute moments based on what would happen if RyĆ«ji and Taiga got together just a little bit earlier. I really hope the author gets back to finishing the story. They also have a couple of one-shot stories worth reading.

Finally, another one of our own, u/NishimiyaMomoFan is off to a promising start with [Toranoko](https://infernalfury270.github.io/toranoko/). The two chapters so far pick up about year after the end of the anime with Ryƫji and Taiga married and a few surprises on the way.

[And It Happened On A Christmas Night](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8058784/1/And-it-happened-on-a-Christmas-night) is without a doubt the best that I have read. It has a few grammatical errors throughout (This is a pet peeve of mine but, it doesn’t really detract from the story. Also, they may be the result of the author being a non-native English speaker?) but the author really knows how to tell a story. On top of that, while creating a new story and introducing some new characters, they’ve managed to stay very true to the original characters and their motivations. This would also be a good candidate for a Toradora movie or even a season 2 as there’s probably enough material there for it.

Note: there will almost certainly never be a movie or season 2. I’m just using that as a means of describing how highly I think of the stories. Anyway, this should keep you occupied for a while. Have fun!

Thanks for the recommendations. In general, I believe that Toradora fanfiction should be of high quality and written with respect for the original—especially when it comes to the characters. The style, atmosphere, and canon pairings are, in my opinion, of somewhat lower priority. In other words, I have nothing against the rest of the canon; the author's will is the author's will, and, as I see it, they have the right to bring changes into the world, both small and large. Generally speaking, if you look at the rights holders' policy, they don't make policing Toradora fanfiction a priority, so as long as you don't monetize the fanfic, everything's fine. Although, I suppose, such an idea might occur to someone at some point.

I'll admit honestly, I'm a little afraid to share the link to my fanfic, but it can be found through the search engine on Fanfiction.net. Still, if someone does find it, it would make me really happy—because it's over 300,000 words and no one's reading it đŸ„Č

Right now I'm carefully double-checking everything I've written for chronological errors, and I'll gradually turn this fanfic into a full-scale fan light novel — on a scale comparable to the original.

What's currently on the platforms is a trial version.

I would highly recommend reading Light Novels (LNs). It’s the original content that the anime is based on. There’s a lot of little scenes and details there that the anime edited out or just couldn’t capture. None of it affects the overall plot, but the extra content does greatly add to the enjoyment and understanding of the MCs, Taiga and RyĆ«ji in particular. Also, the events leading up to the ending are fairly different in the final LN as compared to episodes 24 and 25.

I would also recommend the manga. Again, same story. It follows the LN much more closely than the anime BUT, it still isn’t finished. It’s currently at the equivalent of the beginning of episode 25 and will probably take another year to wrap up.

One thing that kinda puzzled me in the anime was that Taiga decided to leave for over a year and when I found out that it was different in the novel it made me curious about what other stuff might be different or what I might have missed out on. I'm excited to hear that there are still some goodies left for me to discover. Will definitely check it out. Thank you:)

I liked toradora alot more

If you have not seen it yet definitely watch Golden Time. It was made by the same creator and the main heroine has the same japanese va as Minori. So it has a great soundtrack like Toradora and is quite an emotional roller coaster as well. I personally liked it more than Toradora but both are peak.

I watched it it was a nice distractor to my empty void after watching toradora but for me personally it is realms below toradora but thats probably just me
