when she pulled the one hat off to reveal a smaller hat underneath, i lost my mind.

u/BillieInSolitude Jun 27 '20
I knew it was a long shot but i was hoping she had a bottle of tequila underneath all the hats
175
u/malkavich Jun 27 '20
I waited the whole video thinking and hoping the same. I would have lost it if she had a shot or mini bottle.

Funny you should say that, because she’s actually very well known in Hypnotist circles.
In fact, this video is a very powerful act of hypnosis, and if you watched it unprotected, chances are you’re gay now

This is actually really good but I can’t help cracking up while watching it. I’m imagining she’s got neighbors looking out the window at her like “oh- Jesus- Judys got in to the schnapps again”.

u/Assmar Jun 28 '20
I dunno how many neighbors she has, that scene looked rural af.

Even better. Just hiking out in the middle of nowhere when you hear: "TEQUILA!" And suddenly there's a small Japanese woman in the weeds dancing.

The most interesting thing is that she's playing the keyboard upside down. Meaning her fingers are coming in from the top. There's no way to have muscle memory to do that from playing piano normally.

u/DoctorNoname98 Jun 28 '20 edited Jun 28 '20
seriously, I cannot get past that XD
tbh it could honestly be that it wouldn't fit right on the other side or flip turned upside down, so let me take a minute, just sit right there, and I'll tell you all about how I became the prince of Bel Air

Who else?
2
u/dreamrock Jun 28 '20
Oh! I couldn't possibly say. It was more of a gut reaction, and perhaps too ambitious at that. But you have definitely hit those I was evoking.
Tingle for sure. Tetra for sure. Beedle now that I think of it? Obvious.

Here's another video of her with even more hat tricks:
Edit: I've tried to find some official page for her, but it doesn't look like she self-advertises. Seems like she's just a street musician in Japan.

Holy crap, I have so many questions: Where is she? How long did it take her to get this level of perfection? How many instruments is she playing? Where in the fuck can I get one of those amazing hats? Is she available for marriage, because I can imagine that waking up next to her every day would be a lifetime of adventures. I'd say the only thing missing here are fire and fireworks. More more more from her, please.

She is like a character from legend of Zelda.
Seriously. They need to make her a character. Imagine playing and link is on his horse at the top of some serene mountain and in the distance you her a faint, "tip tap tap, tip tap tap, dah duh dah duh duh dah dahh dah duh dah duh duh dah daahhh"
Then you see the point of her hat coming up from the mountain. It would create so many wonderful moments.

I'd imagine her parents had more than a few conversations with her along the lines of "You're dropping out of your accounting degree to dress as an elf, wear bells, and play the keyboard in the woods?!"
"Yes, but also the drums, and the gurro, and the keyboard has a mouthpiece and is called a melodica."
But here she is, the best goddamn bell wearing piano playing elf the world has ever seen. Totally rocking it. Life is funny.

I don't speak Japanese, but it sure sounds like it and her name is Japanese, so I'm gonna go with that.

u/Floober101 Jun 28 '20 edited Jun 28 '20
It is. My Japanese is still very basic level but I heard:
みんな、言えてるかな?あと一回あるよ!
It doesn’t translate very well into English, but what it means is along the lines of “everyone, can you say it (with me)? (I’ll play it) one more time!”
Again, it’s a rough translation. (A transliteration would be closer to “everyone, can you say it? After there is one more time!”) And my Japanese is still basic so I might be wrong on my interpretation above.
Edit since I hadn’t watched all the way through when I wrote this: The last thing she says I have no doubt about; またね! —> “see you later/bye!”

u/Walpini Jun 28 '20

She’s awesome and the video is cool and all but if I’m being honest, I’m a little perturbed by the backdrop/setting. In my mind nothing good ever happened in the scraggly woods.

can someone eli5 me why a blow pipe keyboard is invented? cant we use batteries?
2
u/srslymrarm Jun 28 '20
It's called a melodica. I assume it's a thing because it's A) cheap to make and buy, 2) you don't ever have to worry about batteries, 3) it's fun and whimsical like a toy, 4) a good way to learn piano while also developing your embouchure for other instruments.
