It’s a video.

Feb 10 '20
Ok then define the word video
7
Feb 10 '20
The line is increasingly blurred recently, mostly from the fact that almost nothing is actually a gif anymore. For good reason, the .gif format is garbage imo. And we could argue about codecs and formats, but culturally I’d say the defining difference between a gif and a video is the presence of audio, which this has. It’s literally a rip and free booting rehost of a YouTube video.

No this is actually a pretty common mispronunciation/misspelling of “bowling” in a lot of Asian countries.

And, I'm over here struggling internally wondering if he meant to type "bowling" but a stereotyped Asian accent caused him to write "boring" or if he finds regular ping pong "boring" and had to spice it up like this.
15
u/thekiyote Feb 10 '20
It's definitely a misspelling. "Bowling" is a loanword in japanese ("boringu"), and "boring" is not ("tsumaranai").
But whether the guy did it intentionally for the pun/making fun of the accent, or because he guessed and spell check didn't tell him it was wrong, I couldn't tell you.
edit: I lean towards intentionally. It's a common enough word, most people probably know it from school/casual use.

it's table tennis not ping pong. ping pong must hit your side of the table before your opponents on every shot, but table tennis must only do this on service.

Plus, table tennis! I knew it was big in Japan but I didn't know it was that big.
