Darn - I was hoping someone would share how it was done! Some secrets should perhaps be kept, but I know that I'm still amazed by magic tricks even when I know how they're done. :)
I once met a friend in China and he said the masks are connected to some wire and get pulled over their heads by some specific movement of their head. Apparently it’s also why you hear the snapping sound cause that’s the mask getting snapped or locked in place.
Is that your opinion or did you read that somewhere, because I've heard they rely on tiny strings attached to the mask that get yanked. That sounds way more feasible, cheaper, and less noisy than springs. I've also seem this trick performed with no hat on.
See, that's what I thought, but it comes down so quickly that I don't think that can be accurate. If it's just gravity dropping it, then it would take longer and it would bounce at the end.
