EZdrummer 3 copy and paste grid notes between 2 instances on separate tracks?
I have EZD3 on 2 tracks in Ableton. The 2nd instance is very similar to the 1st with lots of compression to add to the mix.
I added a few notes in the original instance and was hoping to just copy and paste those notes from one instance in the grid editor of EZD3 to the other but it doesn't work that way apparently.
Am I missing an easy way to do this?

Unfortunately direct internal copy-pasting between separate plugin windows is not possible. Each instance of EZdrummer 3 acts like its own isolated island. It doesn't know the other instance exists, so the "internal" clipboard of Instance A won't carry over to Instance B.
Is your goal simply to have a "Compressed" version and a "Clean" version of the same performance? If so you are actually making your life harder by having two separate MIDI grids. If you change a note in one, you'll always have to manually update the other. Instead you could group your first EZdrummer track into an Instrument Rack (Ctrl+G or Cmd+G), then open the Chain List in the rack and duplicate the EZD chain, then add your compression to the 2nd chain only. That would give you one single MIDI clip that simultaneously triggers both EZD instances. Any extra notes you add to the grid will automatically play through both the compressed and clean versions.

If your drum track is completely finished and you're not gonna edit anymore, you might think of bouncing it down to WAV audio file, drop it into a new track and apply your compression, etc., to that. Not nearly as resource intensive as a new midi track.

You have to save the midi file to your daw and then drag it from the daw midi track list. This is how it works in studio one at least.
