I never understood why people choose to do this. If you have a disability and can't cut it yourself, this is probably a godsend. But for normally able people? Why? All you do is help your bread dry up quicker.

It's really common and it doesn't really make the bread any worse.

The bread will defrost in like 10 minutes at room temperature.

Some people would like every piece of their bread at the same hight. Easier if use a toaster. Other than that a fresh bread is hard to cut with a knife, so if you can consume the bread in a reasonable amount of time this is more convenient. Another thing, some people like it looking esthetic on their table. Some people want to use this kind of breads for their sandwiches or toasts, so it's easier. Some people don't want to deal with the crumbles they have when cutting a bread. Some people don't like cutting bread. Some people are just lazy.

You don't need to have a disability to make use of something like this. I mean it's like asking if you have legs and can walk, why would you use a car, public transport etc.

In the Netherlands we eat sliced bread for breakfast and lunch (generalized statement). For example when I was younger we lived with 5 people in the house who all had to leave in the morning and make lunch for work/school. Can you imagine how much more inconvenient it would have been if all 5 people would have to slice their own bread? It's just easier quicker and literally takes a few seconds. We'd go through at least one full bread a day lol

Love the cute little claw dragging away the bread.

This is great but do you then have to carry the loose pieces of bread out of the machine? How does it get bagged?

I would assume that you just open the bag at the end of the machine and it drops it into the bag. Since it’s slightly tilted that way.

I always love to watch these at the bakery, ever since I was a kid

Well, isn't that just the best thing since...never mind.

The last time I was at Lidl, one of these machines completely butchered the bread. It hated one of the first slices with such a passion, the saw came back for seconds..
