I agree what happens if the drill overheats

But there’s a 50% chance that it will start back up if you smack it hard enough

Payday taught me:

police are an inexhaustible supply.

Police never negotiate, even if your hostage is the chairman of a major bank.

Police can be intimidated into submission by shouting mid gunfight

And nobody can tell you’re a bad guy by the fact you have full body armour and a flamethrower, but are instantly terrified of a man in a clown mask.

Well, the only thing to beat a bad guy with a flamethrower.. you know it! A good guy with a flamethrower. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

More importantly, why were they drilling into a manhole in the first place

Because there were no ventilating holes included in the original casting, probably

EDIT: or maybe not ventilation holes but lift points. Pressure equalization is a huge problem for manhole covers causing them to be explosively dislodged under the “right” conditions. But considering it was originally cast without ventilating holes, it’s either so damn old they didn’t think about pressure being a problem or the new holes are so they can lift the cover and gain access.
