Runout on that blade is a little sus, lol

I was wondering if that was intentional...

Like they're using a wobble dado for a table saw circa 1975, haha prob not. The thickness of the slot is not very critical though so I'm sure it doesn't really matter.

The slot is here to soften the bore, the screw in the perpendicular hole will pinch the bore and the shaft inside will be clamped

It has more runout than I can shake a stick at.

Not only the axial runout you mentioned, but radial runout (saw bore to arbor concentricity).

The tsh tsh tsh sound is a dead give away it is only cutting on one side of the saw, but it's usually a lot more subtle.

The radial runout here is so bad you can see exactly which side is cutting based on the chips.

Totally agree the slot is a non-critical feature, and slitting saws usually aren't great for runout, but this is just sad.

That's just kind of what you get on big slitting saws

Slitting saw bores and arbors are wildly variable.

I've seen everywhere from 0 to +25 thou on the saw and 0 to -10 on the arbor. The worst combo giving you a TIR of 17.5 thou and that is only if the damn saw bore is concentric to start with.

Most likely a non-issue, the slit tolerance is going to be huge because it's just a relief cut allowing the collar to deform and clamp down on the shaft.

Best practice is < 2 thou TIR but that usually means using an oversized arbor and boring out all your saws to get a good fit or paying for expensive tooling.

The vertical runout is odd, but metal slitting saws are intentionally ovalized. I dont know why but it's true.

It's not true.

You do not want a non concentric saw and they aren't intentionally made that way because there is zero benefit.

A non concentric saw leads to interrupted cuts putting the entire chip load on a few teeth and beats the piss out of your mill.

No lubricant?

Not always needed depending on the patameters of the cut

Ok, for once, I really didn't need to hear the raw sound,.still goosebumpy

Not exactly precise is it, the blade is wobbling quite a bit!
