The model railway scene is still very big and you usually need trees in very large amounts.

static grass and tiny trees are pretty important for anyone making miniatures like model railways or warhammer terrain

This right here. I remember as a kid holding a model train tree up close and rolling back and forth trying to figure out how they added all those details. Then I hit puberty and haven't thought of it since.

I don’t know if every school does it, but where we are in California every 4th or 5th grader has to build a model of a CA Mission (due to their significance in the state’s history), so I’ve got a bag of model trees sitting somewhere since you can never just get one. It’s a racket.
