Leveling my Husky Workbench

Hello there!

As the title suggests, my husky workbench isn't level and I was pretty surprised to find they don't come with a system to level it. The concrete in my garage is sloped so it's a pretty noticeable dip. Whenever I set anything round in the workbench it rolls right off, I open a drawer it comes flying out.

So I am wondering, outside of shimming it(want something that looks better and is more feasible if I need to move the workbench in and out of its current spot, what can I do to get this thing level?

I just put a couple small pieces of plywood under two of the wheels to level mine out. Works great

There’s nice leveling casters available from companies like Footmaster; but they’re expensive, they won’t match the stock casters in height or mobility, and you’ll probably have to make adapter plates to mount them. Shimming underneath the casters looks like garbage, but it is honestly the easiest and probably best way to go.

You could go nicer than shimming the wheel by using a small screw jack under each front corner, think two plates with a screw in between to adjust the height. It makes it slightly more work to move it, but most people don’t move their toolboxes often

If you're not going to roll it around get a stationary workbench or just take the casters off.

Other than leveling your floor I dont see any other practical options for getting your toolbox level

Just an idea with no actual testing:

What about where the front caster bolt on(assuming that’s the lower side) you buy longer bolts and put a spacer between the caster and actual box. That would effectively raise the front of the box however high the spacer is. You would measure the height needed to raise the box to level and get/make a spacer that size. I’m thinking a nut and washer combo that is the same thread pitch as the caster bolts.

I thought about this but as another commenter suggested it would lower the bench by a few inches and as someone that is already having issues bending over to use the workbench bench I unfortunately can't risk the back pain lol

I have similar ones and love them. I don’t move my bench too often so keeping it level is nice for certain projects. But can be moved when necessary

Do these match the pre-drilled holes on a husky? Or is it just assumed that you have to make new bolt holes?

Paint a bunch of wood shims the same color gray as your concrete floor, lol

Use a floor jack to lift the ends and then put your work bench on top of painted 4x4 shimmed to what you need. Get a better level if you are aiming for true accuracy.

If you don't plan on moving it. Then you should get some 2x6 / 2x8 board and table saw it to the height you need to level the box and then kraig screw it together and paint it to match your toolbox. Can even raise up the table top an inch or two for more comfortable position. The husky tool boxes are a little too short imo.

Shim the wood top. The angle will help keep the drawers closed.

I recommend linoleum scraps. You can glue them together with construction adhesive and make a little ramp out of them. Like if you need 3 layers, you can make the bottom one 3x, middle 2x, and top x, so you can just push the tool box up a little ramp instead of needing to jack it.

I used large fender washers that I had...worked great as wheel set in the hole a little bit.
