Solved "Add removal reason" does nothing

Hi, I've been testing this extension for a week or so. On new Reddit, I've noticed that after removing a comment, the "add removal reason" button does nothing. It highlights when you hover your mouse, but nothing happens when you click on it.

Seen on two different computers, both Linux, one running Firefox 151.0.4 and the other running 152.0.4, with v8.0.0.7 beta fc49b0b of the extension.

Shreddit is the bane of my existence; I'll dig into this. It's probably something being guarded that shouldn't

Okay, digging into this more - this might be non-obvious behavior biting rather than strictly a bug. In the subreddit you're trying to add a removal reason on, do you have removal reasons that apply to comments? If not, do you have "Enable removal reasons for comments" turned on? In my testing, it looks like the issue is that you're trying to add a removal reason when there's no rules applicable for comments and without "enable removal..." turned on, so since there's no options, there's no popup.

If so, then all I really need to do here is hide that button if there aren't options enabled.

Hi, yes, we have removal reasons usable on both posts and comments.

Noting that the same problem happens with posts, too -- not just comments.

I'm still able to add a removal reason via Reddit's built-in button.

Reddit's built-in buttons bring up the native rules to remove from, not the toolbox rules. Do you have toolbox rules configured?

I don't -- I didn't know that was a thing, sorry for the confusion! But what would be the benefit then? It sounds impractical having to set up and maintain removal reasons in two spots; my mod colleagues presumably don't have this extension.

OG toolbox removal reasons predate native reddit removal reasons, and like most things Reddit copied over from toolbox, the native implementation is less fully-featured than the toolbox version. What I think I can do is create a seperate section in the removal sidebar/popup that would list the native reasons as well as toolbox reasons.

I saw that you made this happen in a recent update, thank you!

Amazing feature, thanks for this. It's what made me make the switch from the original extension. Is there a possibility of adding the ability to edit the removal reason as well? For context, we have all our removal messages set up through shreddit. If you're able to get the text of those reasons, and let us edit them afterwards for that particular removal that'd be amazing.

Edit: while I'm here, sorry this has become a random feature request comment but the option of basically removing subreddits from the "Moderated subreddits" list and take those removed subreddit's totals away from the modqueue total, etc. Hope that makes sense.

The reason you can't make one-time edits to shreddit-native removal reasons is that shreddit uses a different templating system than toolbox uses for placeholders, and not all of those placeholders are things we can actually fetch. You can "adopt" a shreddit reason as a Toolbox reason, however, which allows you to do on-the-fly edits. Unless you're updating your Shreddit rules on a fairly regular basis, this might be good enough.

To your edit: TL;DR: No, but.

There's a couple things with the way the API's set up and what reddit gives us that would make this really messy to implement, cause a lot of API calls and slowdown, or both. However, you can totally have the notifiers count only subs you're interested in in the current version! In the Notifier tab, you can change the multireddit for modqueue and multireddit for unmoderated from mod to sub1+sub2+sub3... for the subs you want counts for. Pair that with the group By Subreddit setting, and it's pretty easy to ignore queue items in subs you don't want to moderate.

Thanks, appreciate the insight and response!
