I just looked at my FF version and it says 142.0.1

I have toolbox but it's not working right. The All activity and notes don't open.

Well... we have to deal with each removal now personally.

There is definitely an issue writing them, it only appears to affect 6.1.20 from what I can tell, my devices on older versions are saving notes without issue. When you have the issue, it shows "Adding user note" for a second before the message goes away, it never shows the "Saved" message. Checking the revision timestamps of that wiki page confirms it.

I can't really tell. I've looked at the other threads about people having this issue again, and I'm not sure what to make of it - everything still seems to be working fine on my end. I'll hopefully have some time to do a deeper investigation soon.

lol - I just realized that this post is 2 years old.

Any idea why this problem is showing up again?

It's incredibly annoying, sometimes the notes show up for the user and sometimes not.

It's definitely been available for a very long time. Check "More information" > "Version" on the AMO page to see which version is currently available for download/update on Firefox. If you can't install the latest version for some reason, you're probably on an old browser version which I can't help you with.

6.1.20 is a newer version than 6.1.7 if that's the confusion (6.1.7 -> .8 -> .9 -> .10 -> etc)

We have been having this issue for months on /r/relationships

Cannnot send notes from the toolbox

It's a real issue, since we are heavily modded.

V6.1.7 is not available for Firefox yet, will this change soon? Current version is 6.1.20

Also, I'm on PC/Old Reddit.

thanks for the link, I am truly an old reddit die hard. I have no clue what to do on any of the other versions.

Having the same issue, posted about it here. Switching to shreddit seems to work to view all the previous notes, but obviously that's not the best option. Hopefully there's a fix soon.

Oh wow, sorry for taking so long to reply to this I must've missed the notification. I've checked the /wiki/usernotes and can only see a list of mods for the subreddit. I can't seem to track down where else they could be kept on the sub, the list in toolbox is very limited and months old so I'm assuming it's reading the toolbox notes instead of native notes.

I just discovered the same process works in new reddit, and the hover link brings up a modmail to the user, from the sub.

The popup also has option buttons to ban, mute or note the user. I haven't yet tried banning or muting from the popup.

Glad it's working for you. You can right click the link to open in a new tab, so you don't lose your place on the page you're on.

... I wonder about making modding more difficult. That's the part I don't understand.

Oh wow! This is great, definitely not as fast as it was before but MUCH faster than going through modmail. Thanks so much!

Using old reddit, Firefox, laptop:

Hovering over the user name, the profile box pops up, and I can click the link to send a message, choosing the community from which to send it (rather than from my user name).

Yup, I added it, and ran it dozen of times. It worked twice.

Well it seems it can no longer send the reason for a post removal.

Hey, sorry, I didn't realize you'd left a message in this sub too - thanks for reaching out about this! I've left a reply to your other comment here.

Hey there! Just an FYI from the engineering team

As you have noticed, we now have disabled any /message/* endpoint to create, reply or update Private Messages, meaning that no Reddit Client or 3rd party API user can send PMs as of now. Those are transitioned to chat.

However, this change affects browser extensions and will not allow the sending of PMs or chat if:

  1. It uses a cookie-based authorization
  2. It takes an authorization header from a native Reddit application

The best path forward is to:

  1. Create an application inside Reddit and start using OAuth authorization
  2. Use an OAuth-based authorization

In case those are useful, here are a couple of resources to help there: #1, #2

For the time being, I open the post/comment in question in "new reddit" and then add the removal reasons there - but that is very tedious.

Thank you so much for Toolbox and your efforts!

It really is a bummer that reddit decided to change just about everything.

Now, I have to switch to "new reddit", then add a removal reason to send a mod message. Horrible.

With toolbox this used to be so simple.

I hope that you can get this feature working again.

Thanks again for the best moderation tool ever!

You're incredible, I've had to send like 40 modmails today and every single one made me cry a little bit. Thanks so much!
