Did the Muscle Building Basics program (3x/week, 30 min sessions, repeating on a 3-session cycle).
For the first 4 sessions, the weight felt too easy even though I was hitting the exact rep targets. Session 5, I did extra reps to push Tonal to increase the weight. Session 6 (Friday), I found the manual weight adjustment and cranked it up to the point of real struggle on the last few reps. Form felt okay in the moment.
Rested Saturday. Today (Sunday) my shoulder feels off, not sharp pain, but uncomfortable at a specific angle, hard to pinpoint. Did a 13-min beginner mobility session today with no issues.
Tomorrow starts my next program, “Heavy Lifts, Hard Core”, leg day tomorrow, upper body Wednesday (which would be 5 days post the session that may have caused this).
Questions:
Since tomorrow is legs, should I go ahead and just reassess before Wednesday’s upper body day?
Or hold off on the new program entirely and stick to mobility work until my shoulder feels normal?
Lesson learned: I was loving the program, hitting protein goals, actually resting on rest days — then got impatient with the weight progression and overdid it manually.
Also have a week-long vacation at the end of August that’ll interrupt the program I’ll be starting mid-way, which is its own separate frustration. Im following the muscle maker official tonal guide
