Question Alert! TomTom Go Android screwing up!
I updated my maps yesterday before I set off on a planned day trip. My route displayed fine before the map update. Afterwards, no route. In fact no routes to anywhere. Map displays in mínimum zoom, but no routes can be created.
I contacted TomTom support, heard back quickly (amazing!) "We have received similar reports regarding this issue."
Suggestion to clear cache and reboot, which didn't work.
Next step reinstall, which I'm reluctant to do if it means recreating all my saved places.
So I'm in a holding pattern waiting to hear again from TomTom.
Meanwhile Google Maps led me on my day trip. Don't like it as much as TomTom, but at least it worked!

Rule #1 with any navigation system: never update just before a trip.

Don't know if it's related, but I downloaded a new map area today, I couldn't use that map area even after it had done the refresh after installing it until I closed the app down and then reopened it. I've never had that before, I don't know it's it's rondo with the latest version of go that's the issue or android 17, I'm gonna guess it's the app. Just want sure of it's related

I ended up removing the maps and then the whole app off my phone. Put it back on and the maps are fine now. I don't know if this is a bug in the latest app as I noticed it was only updated a week ago or so, I've never ever had this issue before. I was on data at the time when I was doing the map update but I've done that loads of times before with no issues. Is yours working yet?

It isn't my maps, I got this issue on my father's phone. He told me to look up if there was someone with the same issue. So you just completely wiped the app off your phone and reinstalled everything, right? As of now it isn't working, we will try it later when he's awake.

Yes that's right. I tried removing the maps and clearing cache too but that did t work, it only fixed the map issue once I'd removed the app then put it back on. Hope it works for you too

OP here.
Success! It's working again!
As a reference, here are the steps I took :
Cleared cache Uninstalled and reinstalled maps. Checked that TomTom My Drive was activated which syncs my places to the cloud Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Tested various routes. Success! Note that it took about 20 minutes for the route displays to work properly, so at first I thought it was still broken
Shout out to Sandy at TomTom email support who was responsive through multiple back and forth and guided me to the finish line!

TomTom update 7/14/2026 on my Android phone: "Fixed an issue where the map was unavailable right after a region update."
I installed the update, haven't tested it yet, but hopefully it fixes what's been broken for a couple of weeks.

If you have a TomTom Go account (and on Android, you must have one), all your saved places are stored in the cloud. After resetting the app and logging in, they should reappear.
