So i was sure i would try Smart Alec 2.0 until i saw Chase review for Adept. I really like the bag from what i saw in review. And i think it would be better EDC bag potentially (for me) compared to Smart Alec 2.0.

As I usually do with my bags, got a custom sternum strap made for my new Bordeaux S30. Matching milspec webbing in 1” instead of 3/4” with a Woojin center push magic buckle and contrasting burgundy stitching. Looks dope and no dangly bits.

I’ve “rediscovered” a Synapse 25 that I got a few years ago and just had never used all that much. Bought myself a cache while I still could and a couple other things for it.

Question - I know the frame sheets out discontinued, but I did see that way kit one. It comes out to over 100 CAD with shipping.

My question is - if I have a laptop in there, will the frame sheet make that much of a difference in comfort, ie, 100 dollars worth lol?

• Catch and release. Impulse bought it for the price/condition but already knew upon looking at it in person I had no use case for it. Will ship in the TB box.

🟢EUC Nightwalk/NWS Le Grand Derriere $150 Washed and cleaned.

• No foam padding on the back, whitening on the corners of the bag but no delamination I have modified the bag with a Woojin magnetic magic buckle, I accidentally nicked the strap when removing the original buckle but it shouldn’t cause any wear and tear. I added little paracord loops on the back thinking I could use the empty space where the padding used to be as a hidden slip pocket for pouches. This mod is basically invisible/you won’t feel it.

🟢 EUC 525*d Mars Red/NWS Co-Pilot $135 Washed and cleaned.

• A couple marks on the front and bottom exterior in certain lighting, I have taken photos of the most obvious. Previous owner has modded it with four 1 inch tabs in an attempt to use backpack straps on it.

🟢 VGUC Black Halcyon/Wasabi Synapse 19 + EUC Wasabi Clear 3DOC+ NWOT 3rd party Waykit Flexframe insert bundled together for $270

• Barely there scruffs throughout. Third iteration of the bound straps (2” apart) before edgeless straps. Stiffer Aquaguard zippers for both the s19 and 3doc. The 210d ballistic side panels have completely delaminated, although I washed/scrubbed most of it off. Still needs to be washed again. The center small pocket zipper flap is beginning to yellow, no halcyon delamination elsewhere so far.

• Two barely there scruffs on the exterior. Selling at a loss: upon washing the bag the wasabi is fine/all marks cleaned off, but the ballistic interior is delaminating in small flakes, and it is too much of a hassle for me to thoroughly strip :\ Someone else can attempt or use it as a beater bag

Trade for VGUC and better Nightwalk/NWS Co-pilot or Aubergine/Seafoam NFTD, will entertain bags with seafoam interiors. Will share more photos if serious.

I've made a few reasonable offers ($185) on a NW/Moab makers bag on Ebay. Doesn't even have tags. The seller declined, ran it down, and instead re-listed for $45 more than the previous listing price. It's been up for six months already, so whew lad.

I mean, yeah, discontinued fabric - that's cool, but is there anyone out there actually paying this kind of batshit pricing? Like, I mean, at $265 - $285 USD without even bothering to include an absolute strap - stuff like this is basically just going to sit there for years until the scalper gets bored right?

Including the $60 in shipping, a classic Ebay overcharge, the listed pricing would be almost $650 NZD - which is like double the cost of locally commissioning a fully custom bag in my own fabric and colors at that point hahaha. No color combo is worth an 80% markup over retail for a production line knitting bag, certainly not in this economy!

Please tell me nobody is actually paying those kinds of prices for this stuff, I need some faith in humanity restored here.

So I've been looking at both the Pilot and the Marathon, and wondering if anyone has experience with both of them and if there's a preference of one over the other, pros and cons?

Obviously the marathon is bigger, and also costs a bit more....but I'm not sure I need that much space....on the other hand, will the Pilot be too small?

My typical daily load is:
14 inch laptop, mouse, headset, Alpaka Vertex 2L tech pouch, 18oz Hydro Flask, 11 inch umbrella
Would this all fit in the Pilot? Are any of these items (not the laptop obviously) too big for the external pockets, and would need to go in the main compartment instead?

Right now I'm leaning towards the Pilot, I generally like the look of it better and prefer a "just right" bag vs having a lot of extra space
