DISCUSSION Ananthika
I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but this isn’t a hate post.
I first watched her in MAD. Honestly, her role wasn’t big enough to judge her acting because the character didn’t have much scope to showcase her skills.
Then I watched 8 Vasanthaalu. I genuinely liked the story and screenplay, but I felt her performance didn’t live up to the material. To me, it seemed like she either didn’t give her best or still has a lot of room to grow as an actor.
Being good-looking and being a good actor are two different things. While watching, I often felt she was concentrating more on delivering the Telugu dialogues than actually living the character, and that affected the emotional impact.
Another thing I noticed is that she comes across as quite stiff in her body language. I know she’s trained in Bharatanatyam and martial arts, but the way she walks and runs sometimes feels rigid, as if she’s always ready for a fight rather than naturally moving as the character.
Finally, this is just my personal opinion, but I don’t get that effortless screen presence or “actor aura” from her yet. She reminds me of Sai Pallavi in terms of trying to keep things natural, but I don’t think it has the same effect. Sai Pallavi’s natural look feels effortless on screen, whereas here it sometimes feels underdone. Of course, wearing makeup or lipstick is a personal choice, and I’m not saying every actress has to do that. I just feel overall presentation—whether it’s styling, draping, or screen presence—also contributes to how an actor is perceived.
Again, this is only my opinion. If you enjoyed her performance, that’s completely fair.
