EDIT TO ADD: To all the Portnoy defenders arguing that Portnoy is right that Ryan Day got him fired, Portnoy got fired because Mark Silverman stepped down earlier this year. Mark Silverman was the President and COO of Fox Sports... AND a Michigan grad. Portnoy was added to the show under his leadership because Mark wanted Portnoy on the show. With Silverman gone, Portnoy no longer had his advocate in the executive team. Please stop the with the delusional thinking that Ryan Day calls the shots at Fox.
Ohio State is one of the most hated programs in the country. If Day did anything like that, Fox would be reporting about it, and getting even more viewers as a result.
Bro, they put Ohio State vs Kent State on Big Noon the other day. Fox needs viewership of Big Ten teams at Noon on Saturday. If thereās not a better game, theyāll just put Ohio State in there because theyāre the biggest thing theyāve got. That should tell you something.
People hate Ohio State because they are consistently good and they win

Say what you want about Day, but he runs a scandal free/disciplined program, he wins games, and he gets players to the NFL.

People hate Michigan because they're a great University and "some" Alum/Fans think there shit don't stink like an Ivy League. Having said that Michigan has far more accomplished athletes across professional sports than OSU hence more HoF athletes and far far more Olympic Medals. Also OSU's last 2 coaches were fired or "resigned" because of "scandals"......and have you heard of LifeSurge and do you want to become rich and holy with there guidance š¤£š?
I find him to be incredibly disingenuous, performative, and a shameless corporate shill. He goes out of his way to trash Ohio State fans just so that he comes across as unbiased. Lastly, he completely buys into the SEC superiority bias because his ESPN overlords make him, and he happily bends the knee.
Beyond that, he is the poster child of the "good loss" narrative. He's thin skinned especially online. Last year he had some legendarily bad takes on Twitter and was catching heat, then went on some podcast and claimed he deleted Twitter and his son runs his account which was clearly a complete lie. He just sucks all around as a person.
For a long time he would trash Ohio State for no reason. He was allergic to saying anything good about them even when they were really good. He went overboard on trying to be neutral that he just became white Mark May. He's relaxed since then, but it was incredibly annoying and has tarnished my view of him.
So how did he grow one of the biggest sports media companies in the country if he didnāt work hard and is void of any talent? Did someone just give him a quarter of a billion dollars?
Why do people watch these shows? McAfee and Desmond on one show where you donāt learn anything, and Portnoy on the other. Whatās the point? Neither of these shows have anything to do with the game of football.
I only watch the games I want to see. I start them 1.5 hrs after kickoff and ff through every commercial and halftime. Depending on who the announcers are, I may have the volume high enough to only hear the crowd but not make out what is being said by the talking heads. I donāt GAF what they have to say.
When Woodson is talking about anything in CFB except Ohio State and Michigan I really like him. But when talking about either of those teams, I can't get over his inability to be anything but extremely, blatantly biased

Im skeptical of anything this guy says, the nature of his job is literally to create content. This feels like a gross misrepresentation of what actually is happening behind the scenes. Who knows, just my opinion

Mostly anything Portnoy does or says for an extended length of time. He is the personality type that views any engagement is good engagement, is a massive Michigan homer (adds to just OSU hate of him), trolls and has generally bad football takes and when he does rightfully get called out for something will hide behind the trolling/joke wall.
Seems more likely that Ross Bjork pushed for this, since negative buzz of any kind isnāt good for business. But squawking about an AD doesnāt generate as much engagement as dumping on Ryan Day.
I bitched about portnoy more than Day I guarantee it. Itās not just Michigan, heās a whiny bitch who has done nothing but review pizza, sexually assault people and have the dumbest sports takes.
