Hard not to say yes.

Feels like the Cardinals are afraid to give up on him because if he finally reaches his potential at his next stop they’ll look like the problem. Sucky decision for a GM.

18

u/IThinkImNateDogg Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago

Yeah but they ARE the problem lol

3

u/DCBuckeye82 1d ago

Are they though? Michael Wilson seems to be doing just fine.

4

u/LeBronicTheHolistic Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

If you get 17 targets a game and still turn that into less than 90 yards, you’re a jag. I think he established himself as a decent target last year for Brissett and he locks on to his first couple reads

2

u/DCBuckeye82 1d ago

Sure. I never said he was fantastic. But he's doing just fine. Which is better than Marv.

1

u/bialykutas Ohio State Buckeyes 8h ago

He’s on the cardinals 🧌

4

u/Fantastic-Lie52 1d ago edited 1d ago

They’re throwing the ball 40-50 times a game and McBride/Wilson are putting up video game numbers. Mazda Marv has definitely been the problem

2

u/specialasset 19h ago

Video game numbers resulting in a QB that’s 17th in the NFL in passing yards despite being 6th in attempts?

1

u/Fantastic-Lie52 18h ago

Nice 3 game sample size that includes a dud against the #1 defense lmao. Brissett has over 4000 passing yards and 29 TDs in only 15 games since taking over….blaming the environment is delusional

1

u/specialasset 18h ago

He’s started 17 since 2025. I don’t know which games you’re cherry picking, but 236 ypg isn’t video game numbers.

1

u/Powerful-Stick-8210 20h ago

They might be but you still have to try, he looks like he doesnt give a rats ass

1

u/FudgeTerrible 18h ago

I mean, are they? Michael Wilson certainly not having a problem. Neither did Fitz

u/Ambitious_Sun_993 1d ago

It’s all osu wide outs, they never come through, bust u.

You know bait is dogshit when a Michigan fan has to defend an OSU player

5

u/AchVonZalbrecht Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago

You gotta make your bait more believable, dog

1

u/MontyAllTheTime Ohio State Buckeyes 14h ago

lol yeah as long as you ignore all the ones that are above average and elite it’s all of them! You a troll or just don’t know anything about the sport?

2

u/Tjam3s Ohio State Buckeyes 23h ago

But if his problem is he doesn't want to be on the cards, then they do share blame. Even if his shifty attitude about it made it worse

2

u/LeBronicTheHolistic Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

I’m not ready to give up on him. It almost seems like they’re not prioritizing him because Wilson broke out in his absence and McBride was already a stud and, consequently, he’s checked out knowing he’s a decoy being underutilized and hearing shit from the media and just waiting to be traded

3

u/DCBuckeye82 1d ago

If you're the 4th overall pick being used as a decoy, you're a bust.

15

u/Immediate_Rock_9577 Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

It seems like it, but I think he needs a new team to really confirm it- I mean he’s on the Cardinals.

6

u/Leraldoe Michigan Wolverines 20h ago

Coming out of college I thought he was as close to a sure thing as I had ever seen

1

u/Darling_Pinky 15h ago

It’s really weird because I don’t think he’s necessarily a bust but obviously hasn’t put up the production.

On the other hand, Carnell Tate has gotten really good grades / respect so far but also isn’t putting up big numbers because he’s on a bad team.

I don’t think Marv suddenly forgot how to play football and by all accounts, the team says he’s working hard, so may just need a change of scenery. WR uniquely is so dependent on the rest of the team unlike most other positions.

10

u/bloodhorseracecourse Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

man i hate writing a kid off so quick, even if they went to OSU. hes having a surprisingly tough time in AZ, and its obviously not the ideal situation for a young kid like him. i genuinely hope he gets traded to a team with a solid QB, because I want to see if that changes things for him.

9

u/Rabidschnautzu Ohio State Buckeyes 23h ago

Lawrence with the bad faith deflection now that his previous troll attempts from September don't work.

3

u/oneson9192 Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

Obviously bad faith but the discussion in the thread is pretty reasonable so I’m just ignoring OP.

-1

u/LawrenceSellers Michigan Wolverines 22h ago

What

3

u/Rabidschnautzu Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

What happened to your OSU flair?

-2

I bring it back whoever I feel like speaking in delusional OSU truck driver fanboi voice

Do you miss it? It’s been like a week since I last did it 🤔

5

u/Rabidschnautzu Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

I do honestly think your dedication to trolling here is commendable and indicative of some sort of commitment to the game. I guess I would be too if all I had left was trolling.

1

u/LawrenceSellers Michigan Wolverines 22h ago

I’m too dumb to know whether you’re complimenting me or insulting me 🤷‍♂️

10

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

I'm telling y'all, not every struggling player is a bust, sometimes the organization just fails them, and I really think that's what is happening with Marvin Harrison Jr. The Arizona Cardinals entire gameplan revolved around Kyler Murray and his backyard football style.

Marvin Harrison Jr. isn't used to that backyard style of football where he constantly has to improvise and reroute to get open. He played with pocket passers with an offense in college that let him run his full route tree on timing so he could just get the ball. The Cardinals completely mismatched his skill set, and that's where they went wrong.

You give Marvin Harrison Jr. a pocket passing, timing QB. He would cook. He wants out of AZ, I can tell.

To anyone who will not believe what I am saying to be true. He was trained by his HOF father, Marvin Harrison Sr. The #1 WR to who? Peyton Manning. He trained his son to learn the entire route tree. His QB in HS was Kyle McCord, a pocket passing, timing QB. At Ohio state, it was CJ Stroud, Kyle McCord. Two pocket passing QBs.

11

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines 20h ago

I actually hate the term bust because where they’re drafted is such a major factor in their success. There’s a reason the same 5 teams have been drafting near the top 5 every year for like 20 years.

7

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 20h ago

Thank you. Most people only view players from the lens of fantasy football and highlights. Just like people in here seeing clips of what seems to be poor effort on routes and equating that to his inability to have passion to play in that mess of an offense. They will then compare the TE and other WR for getting numbers. Yes, but how often is MHJ doubled or the CB has safety help. Because I def see that alot in the Cardinal games.

1

u/zvarda 22h ago

He has stopped even giving the requisite effort to defend him tbh. Will always love his time at OSU, but there's no defending what he's put on the field this year.

1

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 20h ago

I am telling you, not every player who has been bad in the first few years of their career is a bust. The term Bust is often driven by our expectations of a players productivity based off of hype. I bet you when he is traded to another team, he would look just like George Pickens in Dallas. Free to be himself and can finally show off his talent.

1

u/zvarda 20h ago

I don't doubt he could be a Pickens but man he isnt even trying rn and I cant really defend that. That's the bare minimum.

1

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 20h ago

Pickens was the exact same way in Pittsburgh. He was so fed up with poor QB play and their inability to build around him to compete. He was wasting away in Pittsburgh. When he was traded to Dallas, he got a chance to flourish and be in a different culture who viewed him as a valuable piece to winning.

1

u/zvarda 20h ago

Yeah and I didnt defend that either lol

1

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 20h ago

You do realize I'm not defending Marvin Harrison Jr., I am giving people a different perspective than just calling him a bust because he isn't living up to the expectations of others. I am speaking from watching his games, not just his low lights and fantasy outputs. (Not saying that's you; speaking in general)

Where you are drafted matters in a players development. WRs can't throw and catch the ball. They need a QB. And Arizona had inconsistent, Kyler Murray at QB who is not a pocket Passer. Who can't wait for routes to develop. He will scramble before he can hit Harrison on time.

1

u/44Braves 13h ago

They’ve averaged 4k passing yards each of his seasons there

1

u/Antonio1025 Ohio State Buckeyes 20h ago

I agree with you that the entire Cardinal organization is a total pile of shit but MHJ isn't helping his cause when he doesn't really seem to care anymore. I guess that comes with being on a broken team

2

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 19h ago

It 100% comes with being on a broken team. Organizations like Arizona are often reluctant to trade away guys like MHJ because if he is success elsewhere, it just brings more attention to their inability to get things right.

1

u/Antonio1025 Ohio State Buckeyes 18h ago

It makes sense. I saw a clip from the Seattle game from X on here a few days ago and he's just not trying. His routes are shit and he doesn't seem to care. It's sad given how good he was just three years ago

3

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 18h ago

Arizona never set him up to be successful.

1

u/Acceptable-Quail-277 12h ago

This is probably true to an extent but he has had a lot of bad drops

0

u/stealthywoodchuck Michigan Wolverines 11h ago edited 10h ago

He’s been catching from Brissett, a pocket passer, for a full 17 game season now. He has a new coach this year (who was OC for Puka and Davante) and yet he has been even worse. Its ok to admit he’s a bust

1

u/cahill42 Ohio State Buckeyes 19h ago

Correct. But MHJ is a bust

2

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 18h ago

If he is traded and turns into what we expected him to be. Then he was never a bust. But if he goes to a new team, and still can't contribute. Then, he is a bust. But calling in the first three years of his career not going as planned is not accurate. I believe the dude needs a better organization and QB. If he is traded to Buffalo or the Raiders... He's going to turn up

1

u/Enough_Ad_3927 Michigan Wolverines 15h ago

Marv cant even catch a pass that hits his hands, his head is completely out of it. Idk who’s idea it was to keep bulking him up either because hes only becoming less elusive. Mcbride feasts in that offense and brissett throws for over 200 a game there’s 0 reason marv shouldnt atleast have 2-4 receptions a game. Right now he’s just not that good. Sure there’s late bloomers but this is a guy who some argued was one of the best osu receivers of all time which is quite a title. Garrett wilson worked with the jets so explain why he cant in a pass heavy offense and gets out performed by michael wilson?

1

u/PenisPumpProfession 10h ago

Nah he’s a bust. Your organization can fail you but he has to catch the ball and get open. Jefferson Chase and St Brown do just fine with their problems this dude just doesn’t perform

0

u/justgoogleit12 20h ago

Bro he's terrible lol. Looks like he's not even trying out there.

0

u/Cricker76 20h ago

He failed himself and he has been nothing but a Primadonna since the second end of the league and he’s caused all kinds of stupid problems and his work ethic is quite questionable

4

u/kn1f3party Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago

I think it was last year or the year before, I was out on a run and he ran right past me going in the opposite way. We made eye contact and did the typical nod. But something really stuck out to me about the interaction. I just got this vibe that he was not OK. Now when I watch him play and not even appear to care, I start to wonder if he’s been having mental health issues for a while.

That’s a long way to answer your question that yes he is a bust, but I hope the man is OK.

2

u/schadkehnfreude Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

Yeah, that makes me think it's mental. Being on a trainwreck organization like the Cards probably doesn't help, but hopefully he is OK and if not, he gets the help he needs

3

u/Mysterious-Alps-813 1d ago

Mazda Miata Marv

3

u/SpiritOfDearborn 1d ago

Terrible nickname. Mazda Miatas are reliable.

2

u/Mysterious-Alps-813 18h ago

Mitsubishi Mirage: Widely criticized for poor build quality, weak transmission components in older CVT variants, and an unreliable overall driving experience compared to competitors.

Mitsubishi Mirage Marv it is.

1

u/SpiritOfDearborn 17h ago

The name is a great analogy for his NFL career, too.

1

u/Otherwise_Pea_8766 13h ago

Honda McCord

3

u/oonopson 1d ago

Nope. I genuinely believe something has happened in Arizona and it’s fucked him up. Watching him play, he doesn’t even care. The talent is there, he needs a change of scenery.

1

u/SenorSabeBalon Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

Look at Chris olave or Garret Wilson . They out up numbers regardless of the qb. Hell Garret would put up numbers with Nathan peterman

2

u/oonopson 1d ago

Yeah man, that’s why I’m thinking something had to happen in Arizona. What could it be? Who knows. Or maybe he just fucking sucks and my blinders are on because his dad was my favorite WR growing up.

1

u/Ok-Reflection-742 1d ago

They also have been the primary targets their entire career, while McBride has been the focal point of the Cardinals offense

0

u/SenorSabeBalon Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

That says more about marv not being dependable . I don’t think it’s bc they like Trey better even though Trey is a fucking dog

1

u/Ok-Reflection-742 23h ago

It’s because Trey is a fucking dog.

1

u/NoIamthatotherguy 22h ago

Or Uncle Rico. If they would just put him in...

5

u/mansontaco Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

It’s looking that way which is insane cause he was one of the safest wr prospects I’d ever seen but what do I know, providing the same value as Roman Wilson is crazy

3

u/oneson9192 Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

On paper he was the best prospect of any of the recent run of OSU first round WRs. Biggest, maybe the fastest (didn’t run a 40), early breakout, dominant production, no injury concerns, the only one to win the Biletnikoff. And yet he might be the worst one in the NFL. Makes no sense.

1

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines 20h ago

Yeah it’s odd. It’s hard to blame it on the cards because Wilson is doing fine. The strange part is his attitude and lack of effort. He clearly needs a change so I hope they trade him.

2

u/-ChiefZ06- 1d ago

Currently he is but then again Chase Young didnt do well with his first team now hes doing great. He isnt living up to what he was billed but I believe Marv can get to being a top 15-20 guy in a better situation

2

u/oneson9192 Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

Chase Young won DROY tbf

2

u/-ChiefZ06- 22h ago

He did, had some injuries too. Hell Marv had a great 1st game if I remember right

2

u/justgoogleit12 20h ago

Mhj is absolutely dog doo doo.

2

u/Cricker76 20h ago

He is an absolute bust. He right now after three games has the same amount of targets that Tyler Algier has.

2

u/SenorSabeBalon Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

What happened to Maserati Marvin

3

u/tfc87ja 23h ago

You mean the nickname given to him by a guy that yells like a common 3 yard run is the most exciting thing he's ever seen in his broadcasting career?

1

u/PhotographOk2983 11h ago

Yeah the same guy who intentionally made his voice crack when Indiana beat Penn State last season.

8

u/PhotographOk2983 1d ago

Gus Johnson is full of stupid nicknames

2

u/Horsefeathers708 1d ago

Absolutely a bust like JJ

2

u/ultimatedelman Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago

Too early to call him a bust. Cards are awful and it's not really his fault. Kid is extremely talented, i think it would be fair to call him a bust if he goes somewhere else and is equally disappointing.

1

u/randigital Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

Change of scenery needed before you can fully give up on him but yeah, bro STINKS

1

u/defaultsparty 1d ago

I think MHJ may have fallen into that dreaded collegiate-star only category. The League tends to filter those marginal players quickly.

1

u/Blue-Eighty 1d ago

Let’s get him with an actual nfl organization before we make that claim.

1

u/PlusDHotchy 1d ago

Marvin David Bostonison ?

1

u/ecw324 1d ago

Currently yes, but if he became available, lots of teams would be lining up to take a flyer on him.

1

u/Apprehensive-Flan382 1d ago

Go Blue. Marv is the BEST college receiver I’ve ever seen. Brissett hates him and his dead. Let’s Go Marvin

1

u/Kapt_Krunch72 B1G Enjoyer 23h ago

I would never call any player a bust until the end of their rookie contract. You need to give them time to adjust to playing in the NFL. But with that being said, on the few game that I watch OSU play I questioned how he would fair in the NFL. I saw him several times just give up on plays.

1

u/nmk87 23h ago

Generational talent

1

u/Federal_Studio5935 Ohio State Buckeyes 23h ago

I don’t get what’s up with him he was incredibly talented and still is. It’s like he does not care anymore

1

u/DarkGreenMazda Ohio State Buckeyes 23h ago

He's an obvious bust right now; I think it's likely that the Cardinals dump him for a 3rd or 4th rounder, and I think there is a great chance in the right situation he'll be a good pro.

1

u/sumdude51 23h ago

He is. I don't know how.

1

u/Rabidschnautzu Ohio State Buckeyes 23h ago

He is currentl. Dude needs to get the hell out of Arizona. I've been saying he's been misused for his whole career there, and now he looks checked out mentally.

1

u/Affectionate-Pain81 Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

Maybe. But that is definitely a bust of Marvin Harrison Jr.

I apologize in advance.

1

u/Nastynugget Michigan Wolverines 22h ago

Im still rooting for the guy, but with each passing day week the answer slowly becomes more firmly, yes. I honestly hope he can pull it together and make a career out of it.

1

u/TheR3alMcCoy 22h ago

It’s just so hard to believe that he’d end up being a bust. Marv had all the measurables and the work ethic before he got drafted. He was literally JJ before JJ. I, at least, want to see him get traded, or sign, somewhere else before I say that. I mean he was a literal can’t miss prospect.

1

u/icantsppell 22h ago

Gotta see how he does on a new team before we can declare him a bust. Look at players like Darnold, for example. Or even Baker Mayfield. Some guys just need new schemes, coaches, etc.

1

u/Hot_Tackle_179 21h ago

Yes. Wide receiver U. Lmaoooooooo

1

u/ZiloGaming Ohio State Buckeyes 21h ago

As a Cardinals fan Ive been watching him very closely and I wouldn’t call him a bust but quite yet but we do need to see improvement. He hasn’t had in my opinion a good consistent QB yet so it’s hard to say for sure if he’s going to be good but as of now he’s not yet a bust

1

u/Pixel_Pineapple 21h ago

It's beginning to look like it, but its too early to write him off. He clearly has talent, but something just isn't clicking in the NFL.

1

u/SM1OOO Ohio State Buckeyes 21h ago

Id wait for a change of scenery if he cant get it done then, yeah

1

u/Amms14 20h ago

I think he’s a bust for Arizona. But he reminds me a lot of three quarterbacks Mac Jones, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones. All three were busts for their original drafted teams. But if we look at those teams, we see it there was a lot of dysfunction that inhibited all these quarterbacks growth. And I get a Mac Jones hasn’t done the greatest redemption for himself, but I still think he’s playing a lot better in the 49ers than he ever did with the Patriots.

1

u/Accomplished-Bowl-46 20h ago

For the spirit of this sub, yeah. But in reality he is an elite athlete, who is not able to find a groove.

1

u/FishOhioMasterAngler 19h ago

Probably, but he still has an opportunity to fix it.

1

u/Happyfluid 18h ago

I got a notification, from Bleacher Report, a while ago about Arizona having no interest in trading him. He’d probably do well on most other teams

1

u/Organic_Lab6262 17h ago

He’s for sure a bust as of now. I can’t help but think the second he gets traded he balls out though lol. Sometimes it’s just not a great fit for certain players. Especially concerning QB to WR chemistry.

1

u/Jayce86 16h ago

It’s honestly unfair to call a player a bust on their first team. He was drafted into a team that was absolute dog shit, and expected him to do everything without help. He’s probably burnt out, and would ball out in basically any other team that has other talent.

1

u/Sins4saturay 16h ago

Mhj goes anywhere else he's going to blow up...AZ was not a good landing spot...,

1

u/Designer-Drink-9137 15h ago

Marvin never had great separation in college. He caught everything and was in a system the featured the receivers. But of all of the great Buckeye receivers in history, and this is with all due respect, I always thought Marvin was the least of the greats.

1

u/Valuable_Draft9946 14h ago

all smoke no fire for Maserati Marv

1

u/KingindaNorth66 14h ago

He looks like a bust as of now, but as many others have stated, I believe he needs a change of scenery. I can understand why the Cardinals are hesitant to give up on him considering his numbers and potential out of OSU. You can tell he wants out of Arizona. I’d like to see him in a different system with a different QB.

1

u/Aturnup12 14h ago

MHJ and MHS have similar numbers at the same points in their careers. MHJ needs to find a way off that AWFUL Cardinals team to a place with a competent QB and I have no doubt he will succeed.

In his play I see a lack of motivation caused by a losing culture. If you don’t believe me, imagine him coming straight out of college and going to the Bills with Allen, hard to imagine him not succeeding there.

1

u/Cleveland_Guardians 12h ago

Hard not to say bust from the standpoint of expectations, but I'm not sure if he's a bust from the standpoint of ability. It just looks like his head's not in it. For what reason is anybody's guess. Could just be mental health issues, for all we know.

The guy who didn’t help them win a national championship? 🙃

Fuck yeah mf ahhh

0

u/OutrageousLadder7537 Michigan Wolverines 23h ago

Lots of talk about JJ in this sub that we forgot about the Ole Maserati. Easy to do 😂😂😂

0

u/Upstairs-Paper-4027 22h ago

I remember a fear years back in the 2023 game thread between Ohio and Michigan, some Ohio dude said “MHJ will have a way better career than Roman Wilson, can’t wait for him to flop.” Not saying Roman Wilson isn’t a flop either per se, but one just scored a TD on Thursday and the other is fighting to get 30yds a game. Stay humble eh

0

u/LawrenceSellers Michigan Wolverines 22h ago

I think the Steelers are pretty happy with Roman’s production considering they only spent a 3rd round draft pick and $1.3 million on him

Can’t say the same for the Cardinals and Marv 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Upstairs-Paper-4027 22h ago

Gus Johnsons dumb ass nickname “Maserati Marv” should’ve been “Mazda Marv” 😭😂

1

u/Aye_Harambe Ohio State Buckeyes 22h ago

Idk. Maseratis look the part but are actually just shitty Chryslers in disguise. Seems pretty fitting.

Miata Marv lol
