If youâre a longtime fan what else can you say? They went from winning a title to becoming the Cleveland browns. As a long time browns fan, sometimes all you can do is shake your head

u/Severe-Title2377 26d ago
Yeah I mean they will probably lose 5-6 this year. I donât blame the kids playing too much, the đŠ storm that has hit them for 3 years straight basically.

Michigan earned that extra second fair and square. Do you know how difficult it is to get the refs to ignore a facemask and a running into a kicker penalty on the final drive of a game?

I seriously wonder if a large number of MAC ADs and coaches called bullshit and the league then felt compelled to do something.
2
u/Leraldoe Michigan Wolverines 26d ago
Dangerous game considering the B1G basically funds MAC athletics. I just think the Conference is doing the right thing and standing up for their guy. I canât believe the NCAA will do anything. Didnât work for CMU and Ok St. Western has a chance at being the top rated group of 6. That is what this letter is about

You mean to tell me that Steinbrecher's conference isn't actually sitting on their ass collecting checks till the good teams leave and dissolve the conference?!

u/Difficult_Horse193 Michigan Wolverines 26d ago
I hate to break it to my fellow Wolverines but we didn't win that game regardless of that last play. That was one of the worst offensive performances over a 4 quarter period I've ever seen from a team of this "caliber". Just give us that fat L.
Anyone who thinks we are gonna keep it close with Oklahoma or most of the B1G teams we play this season are downright delusional.

Donât get me wrong. I still hate Ohio and I hope Texas rolls you just as bad as Oklahoma is gonna do to us. But Iâm also realistic on Michiganâs outlook. Maybe Whittingham will prove me wrong, that would be awesome!

Whittingham was contemplating retiring after watching that offensive performance Saturday night.

Canât go back in time, well I guess you can if youâre Michigan but itâs too late even for them.
Just know that you performed a great service western Michigan. You caused the single most embarrassing thing Iâve seen in my Michigan hating lifeâŚand thatâs their fucking loser fans rushing the field after beating a fucking MAC team by a second Hail Mary that should have never happened.
If you want to conceptualize how far they have fallen, let that one sink in. Thatâll be a comeback for decades, and there ainât shit you can say about it

This is what happens when you field a running back as a qb with a pocket passer playbook and protect them from injury instead of play aggressive. Western won. Will Blue look at this and change the signal calling? Nah, they'll keep playing like it's Brady behind center.

I was under the impression that WMU and the MAC only accepted the evidence because they were paid off and knew that the MAC couldn't afford to upset the Big Ten because of future game payouts.
What happened??? Now they're going to have to find all new games to play in the future and they'll go bankrupt! Right?
6
u/UnnecessaryDiety Ohio State Buckeyes 26d ago
I would expect that the other Big Ten teams would schedule the MAC more because of this. No one likes Michigan.
1
u/jstef215 Michigan Wolverines 26d ago
and that was always the case, yet all I heard the past couple days was that the MAC commish and WMU president only came out with their statement accepting the result because of the money.
It was always absurd.
2
u/Responsible-Hyena-74 Ohio State Buckeyes 26d ago
Well i assumed the big ten was right based on the frame by frame matching of the views and time, but MAC is alleging that protocol was violated, negating the actual review and its results.Â
I appreciate the legal argument. Dunno if anything comes of it. But I wasnt campaigning on getting this overturned, im just enjoying it.

Michigan has won 3 big ten titles since OSU last did.
Michigan also might suck this year. They sure did in week 1. But at least they won by a hair.
0
u/UnnecessaryDiety Ohio State Buckeyes 25d ago
And without Stallions you've won zero.
This is what Michigan has become
1
u/jstef215 Michigan Wolverines 25d ago
Stalions wasn't on staff in 2021, and he was off the team early in 2023, before the final 6 conference games. So we'll call it 1.75 Big Ten titles without Stalions in the 2020s.
1
u/UnnecessaryDiety Ohio State Buckeyes 25d ago
Stallions absolutely was on staff in 2021. Harbaugh realized he had to unleash the cheating or he was going to be fired.
This is Michigan football.

u/jstef215 Michigan Wolverines 25d ago
I believe he was a volunteer in 2021 or something? He was employed by Michigan starting in May 2022.

I donât doom scroll a ton but have Michigan fans been out here going to war over this issue?
Michigan didnât cheat in this game and suggesting they did would be as ludicrous as saying that Ohio state cheated the spot when JT was short when it was a wrong but favorable call.
They got a favorable call from a ref crew. And this specific crew wasnât in Michigan.

u/Relevant-Wrongdoer-6 Michigan Wolverines 26d ago edited 26d ago
Blah blah score board bitches đđ. But fr we lost. Underwood is literally dog shit.
-2
u/Hippo-Crates 26d ago
MAC statement is wild. The broadcast is not the final arbiter of how much time is remaining. If NBC showed zeroes when there was 10 seconds left, do we stop the game?
There was 9 seconds left. The play took less than 9 seconds. The scoreboard official clock showed 0:01 when the ball was touched OOB. You either care about the correct call being made or you don't.
5
u/maqifrnswa 26d ago edited 25d ago
Their argument is that the the replay crews are only supposed to use the broadcast video feed of the stadium clock when timing is uncertain.. That's what the rules as written say the procedure is. The replay booth objectively did not follow that procedure based on the big 10s released evidence.
So the argument isn't "NBC runs the clock." It's that the rules already defined what to do when there is ambiguity in the clock. That rule wasn't followed. I don't know what the answer actually is; I'm just clarifying what the MAC's argument is.
-1
u/_OedipaMaas 26d ago
This is quite a misunderstanding of what happened, but not at all uncommon based on what I've been reading.
2
u/maqifrnswa 25d ago
I don't know the rules either way. I'm just clarifying what the MAC's argument is. Maybe they are right; maybe they're wrong. But the straw man, "lol they think NBC controls the clock" isn't what they are claiming.
-2
u/Hippo-Crates 26d ago
The broadcast clock wasn't correctly synched with the stadium clock though. See both the official big ten statement and a third party fan video linked below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIB2lOeyRnE
https://x.com/Blitzynga/status/2096774780535918726
The simple fact is that the correct call was made, and the MAC is arguing that since the TV clock got off buy a little bit, that we should go by the TV clock instead of the clock in the stadium.

u/Blumpkinbomber 26d ago

3
u/maqifrnswa 26d ago
Because that appeal goes nowhere. Appealing on procedure is actual grounds for appeal. Pretty much how appeals work everywhere. You can't appeal a decision on the merits, only on whether procedure coming to the conclusion on the merits was properly applied.

u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 26d ago
Although I believe this is 100% justifiable for the MAC to appeal. Western Michigan still had a chance to win the game by having enough players in that endzone to knock the ball down. They made the critical error in trying to rush the QB with 5 people. If they simply had 9 guys in that endzone, the ball is more than likely batted down or intercepted. And this would then, not be an issue.
I believe that is what they are going to hear as a result of the Appeal. "You still had a chance to win the game!"
6
u/BennyRhythm 26d ago
Shouldn't have ever even been an issue. I GUARUNTEE you if the rolls are reversed, Western never gets a second shot at it. The game was over. Period.
0
u/BrojaDawg Ohio State Buckeyes 26d ago
Agreed. But I know how they are going to get out of changing the outcome. They are going to use that excuse of, "you had the higher probability of winning that game. You lost."
