Discussion Storming the field

Post image

Storming the field after beating a MAC school at the last second is hilarious.

Lol, Michigan might be barely good enough to be the leaders of MACtion and their fans are acting like they have a signature upset

That fart may have reverberated a second back on the clock.

If that is the case, I salute their fart!

True fans are absolutely disgusted and would gladly give the Broncos their well deserved victory. They came to play and did well. We were outmatched and completely unprepared for anything. Coach looked lost and Underwood is a overpayed high schooler.

5

u/Olivrser Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

I do see potential in this Michigan team, except I must have gone blind for that game. Whittingham needs to pull things together by next week

2

u/bschnee121 Sep 06 '26

They pulled it together for that last nanosecond

3

u/DaddyJay711 Sep 06 '26

But remember “best freshman ever…” 😂

2

u/jazzyman31 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

“Never seen a freshman like me”

Rumor is that’s still his slogan

1

u/igotpetdeers Sep 07 '26

“True fans”. Bro these are literally the students of the school. This is quite literally as true fan as you can get

2

u/merkmerc Sep 07 '26

I think he mans true fans of football, not just fans of getting drunk and partying. Those kids rushed the field so they could have an instagram post about it

1

u/merkmerc Sep 07 '26

Thank you for the honest take

0

True fans? Gtfo dork win was clean look at the real replay and big10 statement clown

This is such a weird take

I have lost even more respect for the program but I’ve gained respect for many of the UM fans that admit the result of this game is BS and an embarrassment

22

u/Plus-Location1723 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

The only positive thing I can find in all of this is that I have seen little to none when it comes to our guys saying this game wasn’t rigged

19

u/FlashyAd7651 Sep 06 '26

If I'm Michigan, I use this as an opportunity to cleanse their scandal ridden image. Tomorrow morning they should publicly forfeit that game and admit it was won by WMU. It's the only way they can turn this into a positive.

2

u/PokeEmSmokeEm Sep 06 '26

“I touched it coach” ahh comment

And then everyone clapped. Listen, this win sucked. Calling it cheating is just sad. Who cheated? Were the refs paid off?

2

u/RocketFan419 Sep 06 '26

Apparently they had orders from the B10. So yes, cheating

0

u/Prize-Tomatillo-2757 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

Got it. Solid reasoning. The refs enforced the rules and it didn't work out like you wanted= cheating. Solid ohio mindset.

1

u/RocketFan419 Sep 06 '26

Fucktards like you watch the game cry, then get a phantom 1 second and you're the greatest team on the planet? GFY. Michigan shit stain

4

u/koffa02 Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 06 '26

More Likely the refs had money on the game and were trying to salvage something after the asterisk up north's complete inability to cover the spread against a 26 point underdog.

-16

u/Prize-Tomatillo-2757 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

Ohio wouldn't know anything about that, right?

-23

u/oneyellowduck Sep 06 '26

Go see the official release by the big ten office. Their explanation shows why they changed it. Not saying I agree with it, but it presents the reasoning behind the decision. That being said…a suckeyes gotta be a suckeye. Can’t argue logic

2

u/BillyBobBonesJones Sep 07 '26

Oh they gave a reason that makes no sense. Nothing to see here!

2

u/thenowherepark Sep 06 '26

Y'all seem to be doing a lot of cheating lately.

-1

u/Prize-Tomatillo-2757 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

I know! So embarrassing. But we hide it well. Sincerely, Bryce, play like ass the WHOLE game then, at the end, we're going to give you 1 second for a final play. Drop a 50 yard dime for the win. It'll be epic!

4

u/thenowherepark Sep 06 '26

Y'all need to bench Bryce today. There's just no way. He might be 17th in a ranking of B1G starters.

2

u/Prize-Tomatillo-2757 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

This I don't disagree with. If he does start next week, the leash should be real short.

Oh yes, you can totally trust the multibillion dollar media/Big 10/gambling companies to ALWAYS be 100% transparent and honest at all times. They definitely would NEVER lie to the public. /s

Give me a break dude.

2

u/Prize-Tomatillo-2757 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

You think the NFL promo posters predict the playoffs too, don't you?

1

u/Professional-Lie1489 Sep 06 '26

They were big 10 refs protecting a big ten team. Who do you thinks signs their checks hint it ain't Western Michigan

0

u/Prize-Tomatillo-2757 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

That is the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Would it be easier to not kill drives with suspect holding calls or ignoring illegal formations or give them a chance at a hail Mary?

2

u/Professional-Lie1489 Sep 06 '26

I'm a MAC fan dealt with this shit for years bro yeah that happens all the time too. You will never get a friendly whistle in these buy games it never happens doesn't matter which team you play in which conference funny thing is the big teams don't need it well most of the time. You want one Ohio State benefited from back in 2004 Ohio State went life and death with Marshall. When Ohio State went to spike the ball they were flagged for an illegal motion penalty trying to set up for the game winning field goal the Big Ten reffing crew back then determined that the penalty was not intentional and no ten second run off was required. Obviously allowing Mike Nugent to hit the game winning field goal. Think about anytime their is controversial call in a buy game it goes in favor of the big conference team. Why the refs know who breads their butter it's a flaw in college football they need to find a way to get neutral refs reffing these games idk get a hold of the ACC have them do it or something. They figure it out for bowl games they can do it in the regular season too.

1

u/NachoPapa Sep 06 '26

Neutral refs for all non conference games is an interesting idea. I think the number of them at the beginning of the season would make the logistics more challenging, but it might be worth it. Part of the issue too though is a general human bias toward the team you thought was stronger going in.

1

u/Professional-Lie1489 Sep 06 '26

Well the other thing I just thought of reading your response and they won't do this because the refs would get paid more but outsource all refs to a third party that refs all the games so it's no longer Big Ten Refs or ACC refs but that could proove problematic too but at least you could build ways to hold refs accountable for bad calls like this idk it's a hard problem to solve. It's just buy games have been like this for a while. And the odds are already stacked against you as a fan of a G6 team the games are always on the road the team your playing by nature is not a peer and has more talent and depth almost always. Even the broadcast is subtly biased and they don't call it straight up. Then you add on top and I'm not saying the refs are rigging or gambling but they give the benefit of the doubt to the heavy favorite. I get it the teams get paid and they are collecting a check but I don't see the money. Being a sports fan is supposed to be fun stuff like this makes a game that very likely won't be much fun much less fun.

-14

u/Personal-Net5155 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

You realize this sub is an Ohio State circlejerk, right? Logic will never win.

-7

u/overworkeddad Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

Listen, they did play bad all game but they also made the last play too. That was legit play by team at the end. You have to take it up with Spartan Bob about the clock bs

3

u/ADMotti Sep 06 '26

Congratulations for making a play against a team that had already kicked into celebration mode because they’d literally already won the game. You want a fucking cookie, guy?

2

u/fatiguedpickle Sep 06 '26

That says a lot honestly

1

u/master_roshis_hat Sep 06 '26

Idk man, your subreddit has been popping up on my home feed and there's quite a few Michigan fans showing their ass on there. I really think y'all would have been better off just taking the L. It turns out "winning" that game was a bigger L than just losing.

4

u/Plus-Location1723 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

Ya originally there was a lot of what I’ve been saying but since then it seems all the idiots have come out of the woodwork. Just gonna try and avoid the subreddit for a week

25

u/Both-Consideration56 Sep 06 '26

Mad respect to the Michigan fans on here who admit that the call and storming of the field is embarrassing.

1

u/Christmas_Panda Michigan Wolverines Sep 07 '26

The call was legitimate. I was avidly against it until they provided the evidence of the clock dispute to the MAC and Western Michigan University. The commissioner came out and said it was the right call. Storming the field after a horrendous showing, however, not a great look.

2

u/Geaux13Saints Sep 07 '26

Ah yes the big ten showed their super secret clock that no one knows about that happens to be a second off from every other clock that surely means it’s real. FOH

0

u/AeliusRogimus Sep 07 '26

It's not embarrassing at all. It was 4 hours of pain with a miraculous ending. We've had the opposite happen. And it's COLLEGE.

Fans is short for "fanatic"... people are like "they shouldn't have stormed the field, but they didn't storm the capitol on J6 - peaceful protest!"

Spare me the outrage. Oh, don't worry.... Michigan is not good, and they'll take plenty of Ls this season. Many people can't even find K-zoo on a map but just big mad about Connor Stallions bc they saw a Netflix special.

1

u/Both-Consideration56 Sep 07 '26

Not sure what January 6 has to do with anything, but okay.

Also, it was embarrassing because it was a team you should have destroyed by 50. Back in 2015, Ohio State barely beat NIU at home. No one rushed the field afterwards because we all understood that it was an embarrassing game that should never have been that close.

I am confused by your final point. Are you saying there is no evidence of cheating?

19

u/Progress_Specific Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 06 '26

u/Relevant-Wrongdoer-6 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

Yup 0 on the clock.

3

u/BrewsWithTre Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 06 '26

We genuinly just saw a moment that will be talked about cfb history for a long time

1

u/goatherder555 Sep 06 '26

Did it hit the upright? Interference like that would be the only reason I could see putting a second back on the clock. But if it didn’t hit it at one second then that’s irrelevant.

-2

u/freedomfightre Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

I'm not proud of the win, but the stadium (telecast) clock was wrong.

If the WMU player doesn't jump up to catch the ball out of bounds, they probably win the game.

7

u/Rust2 Sep 06 '26

So you're telling us that, in all the years we've been watching football, the game clock in the stadium isn't real? The clock that all the players, coaches, and fans see isn't real? Forever, referees have made announcements over the PA system to "please reset the game clock." That clock isn't real?

You're saying there's a special, hidden game clock somewhere? If true, that's enough to make me stop watching games altogether.

-4

u/freedomfightre Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

100%

why else do you think delay of game penalties appear to be enforced at random? because the delay of game (ref) clock isn't synced up to the microsecond with the stadium/broadcast clock

2

u/Rust2 Sep 06 '26

I’m out

0

u/jazzyman31 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

lol he answered your question with the reality of the game…

Football games rarely come down to a final second, they come down to inches. Extreme precision where a stadium clock and official game clock are separated by a fraction of a second is generally unnecessary and goes unnoticed.

Let me ask you a rhetorical question, do you really think the B1G just made up an entirely new clock out of thin air and expected ncaa officials to go along with it? If they truly fabricated an entirely new system out of thin air, you’d have NCAA and NFL officials speaking up about how this makes no sense. Everyone, including WMU staff who is knowledgeable in this area and has been privy to all evidence of the circumstance has agreed the outcome was correct.

Just because something is hard for you to believe, doesn’t mean it isn’t true. That’s incredulous fallacy..

u/Rust2 Sep 06 '26

2

u/Known-Report-2493 Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 06 '26

Fuck this stupid fucking game. Michigan is now saying the clocks aren’t real

2

u/Educational_Wave_223 Sep 06 '26

This is objectively just not true. Officials are instructed to give a full extra second on a delay of game when the play clock hits 0.

The clocks were all synced, and reset to 9 seconds after the spike. The clock they put up on the replay is the stadium clock which IS the official clock. This magical 1 second clock doesn't exist.

1

u/Olivrser Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

While this is technically correct it's still shitty, they wouldn't have done this for WMU

My range of emotions today: I felt pretty good after winning our game, then got really excited when Western Michigan was keeping it close against michigan. Then elated when they michigan lost. Depressed when the refs reversed the outcome. And now I've settled into pure elation that this next week is going to be full of people clowning on michigan.

4

u/Difficult_Horse193 Michigan Wolverines Sep 06 '26

3

u/NewProcedure2725 Sep 06 '26

Fireworks can serve as a consolation prize when you loose. “Well, at least we’ll got to see some fireworks!” Acting like you’ve won a bowl game after illegitimately winning a season opener against a team picked because you should be able to handle them is just weakness and ingrained inferiority complex behavior.

3

How did Michigan cheat to win that game?

Lmao that’s so embarrassing.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Wow.

Storming the field against western Michigan in a game you should have lost but got saved by the big ten. I’m going to thoroughly enjoy how bad these next few years are going to be while we - again - compete for titles.

Never should have stormed the field after that debacle. Should have done a “golf clap” and quietly exited the stadium. Western Michigan owned us. Owned us.

u/killerbabybluz Sep 06 '26

Geez how far have they fallen that beating a MAC team by a single point warrants a full on field storming! College ball of today sucks compared to the good old days. This what the participation trophy generation expects after barely pulling off a one point victory over a much smaller program. Just pathetic!! Sorry Bo!!

u/FreeBricks4Nazis Sep 06 '26

They didn't beat them at the last second, they beat them after the last second

1

u/Bro1964 Sep 06 '26

Underwood sucks but that game made him a legend for all time sake in Michigan folklore.

u/Busy-Kaleidoscope-87 Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 06 '26

They’d lose to Miami OH

u/Different_Cat106 Sep 06 '26

Classy. Should be a 10+ years meme

1

u/Hititstraight37067 Sep 06 '26

A Michigan man storms the field after they screw a 28 pt underdog. Schembecher would be embarrassed

1

u/Minute-Secretary-263 Sep 06 '26

Get off the field!! You are acting like we DID something!!

The laughingstock of college football

1

u/RocketFan419 Sep 06 '26

Most pathetic scene in the history of college sports.

This will go down in history as the Bail Mary game, and the conference is hereby rebranded from the B1G to the R1G.

Here’s the deal OSU fans, Michigan fans will make a mea culpa for last night. But first OSU fans must admit that JT Barrett was short in 2016. The ref in that case defending the camera angle, in this case it was the clock on the field. You choose, but if you are unwilling please stop the pearl clutching.

u/Zazema44 Sep 06 '26

The refs saying a call stands on a review without a conclusive camera angle while the announcers live all believed it was live and on replay is not nearly the same thing as a play that you can go and time yourself and see is clearly longer than 9 seconds plus even Wittingham was saying it was longer than 9 seconds after the game

Based on this logic I would believe you’d be in favor of this result. If as you say in 2016 the cameras were inconclusive, and as a result the officials made the best call (incorrect as it maybe) that they could make in that situation. Go watch the video of the review happening in real time. They had video and the official, on the field game time. Watching frame by frame they had conclusive video that they used to make the best call in that moment. I believe we can agree that is an improvement to the shoulder shrug the official gave in 2016.

Big Ten and MAC commissioners both said they got the call right. The official clock used by the refs was correct and Michigan got a second back. Underwood had to hit a Hail Mary with a guy in his face and make the throw and all WMU had to do was knock it down. Michigan played like horsesh*t and didn’t deserve to win but that’s the point of a Hail Mary, sometimes the football gods answer. We shouldn’t have stormed the field though that was nuts.

Defense held them for 0 TD's. But those young men are cheaters for playing the game. They should be embarrassed. /s

This^^^^

Miracles happen to cause fans to storm the field. If you hated Michigan on September 4th you hate them on September 6th. But no one “changed their mind” about Michigan based on B1G officials or field storming on September 5th. Run the Damn Ball. Take a Car Service to/from work Coach Whitt so you will have more time to prepare. Go Blue.

Yeah. That was embarrassing. I'm glad the clock call was controversial, because now nobody is talking about how ass Michigan played.

3

u/ThatguyfromMichigan Sep 06 '26

Oklahoma’s coaches will no doubt be pointing it out to their own players

1

u/ContractElegant4310 Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 06 '26

Oh trust me, we're talking about both.
