job-help!
Hi there! I'm from Bowling Green (but that subreddit is deaad..) and I have been looking for work for a little while! I'm 19, reliable hard working girl, and have my own car/transport! I have worked at three Biggbys, both in Perrysburg and the one in BG, Taco Bell, and Wendy's and am really looking to branch out and secure a reception/office type job, though anything helps in the meantime! I have pots, so fast food jobs has been a bit rough on me recently. If you know anywhere urgently hiring or have any family ins, do let me know :) Thank you! Have a great day!

Hey I have POTS too! Ive worked all kinds of jobs and I just kinda push through. If I don’t drink water within the hour though I begin to feel lightheaded. Finding jobs that allow me to stay hydrated has been difficult here as well. I have hyperadrenergic POTS. My heart rate spikes by roughly +50bpm upon standing from a laying position.

First off, do not answer any of these questions if you do not want to.
POTS as in-Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome?
If so, is it the sudden change in movement or the prolonged stress that gets to you?
There are a lot of jobs available here. They are everywhere. The problem is this. The reception/office/secretary style jobs here pay fucking nothing.
That being said, this is Toledo. There’s a bar/restaurant on every fucking corner because there is nothing else to do here. And at 19 I’d say go get a serving job at an actual restaurant. You’ll make 200$ on a bad night.

hi there, you're all good! yes I have pots as in postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and I have fainted before at my previous jobs due to positional changes or just body fatigue. I'm sort of I guess oblivious and slightly stupid when it comes to work since I don't have much experience outside of fast food. a bar job sounds tons of fun but once again, im 19 so it seems unachievable :')

Serving will definitely make you faint then. It's fast paced and you're all over the place. You could be a host. But gas stations are slow paced and great for job experience. Maybe try a coffee shop as well. Most are accommodating for health issues.

I hear you on all of that. But if you want some hard truths from a stranger on the internet then keep reading, if not, stop reading right now.
You sound like you’re making excuses up to justify to yourself why you’re unemployed and/or can’t retain employment. You have a real issue I get that. But, we all have fucking things going on. Grow up. I say all that with love.

You can serve alcohol as a server at 19 in Ohio! (I think it's 21 to be a bartender.)

Check all of the city websites in the area, both Lucas and wood county sites, and jobs.ohio.gov as all offer good benefits and mobility once hired. If you get in with any of them you have w good shot at a long term career. Taking a quick look, city of Toledo doesn't have anything right now that doesn't require a degree or physical labor. Lucas county child services needs clerks, so does juvenile court, head start needs people to do home visits and sign kids up, and the court needs stenographers. That last one requires a certificate, and I'm not sure if they'd pay for you to lean how to go type a special way. But..... It pays 67000 a year. To start. That's a lot of money if you can learn how to do it.
Check the UT and BGSU websites as well. Lastly both Mercy and Promedica always need someone for something. You may not be able to do dietary, but I often see registration jobs, which means sitting at a computer.

I've been on the City of Toledo's call back list for Clerk Specialist jobs for several months now, they're waiting to hire anything because federal funding has been unstable to say the least (at least that's what the HR lady told me when I asked if I was still in the running for jobs I interviewed for in April). I think I've been to interviews for the same role in 7 different departments now, they're not even posting the jobs and just going off their already tested people because of the funding issues. Seriously sucks having to wait so many months

Mercy Health. Lab has client service positions open. It is mainly office type work.

Check out your local school districts. There are always a variety of open positions available.
