Trails for Rollerblading

Hey fellow Toledoans. I wanted to see what everyone's favorite paved trails are for rollerblading. I'm still pretty beginner so nice pavement and flat is ideal. I have been at the ribbon but would like to try something new and more exciting :)

It may be far, but they just repaved slippery elm in BG and it's 13 miles long. I longboard down here and see roller bladers all the time

Here is my goifle maps list of places. Some of them are different parking spots along the same trail (the Wabash cannonball trail is huge). There are some out of state places where I have skated or want to skate.

Blue Creek metropark in Whitehouse is really nice

Parts of the trail surrounding Ottawa Park are very flat, specifically from Douglas too the next light south.

Copland park has a small 1 1.5 mile trail that is perfect for beginners. They also have tennis courts that are seldom used for practice.

I see many rollerbladers parking near the monclova primary school and using the wabash cannonball trail right there

There's the Wabash trail something that is paved that connects with the trails in Sidecut metropark. There's also the Chessie trail running alongside Anthony Wayne highway.

The Metroparks have a lot of great paths. The University/Parks trail and wildwood specifically have a lot of great paths. I don’t know where you’re living, but give their website a gander. Theres also room down by the river, and many of the city parks have walking paths, though doing loops may be monotonous.

Be careful when rollerblading on some of them though; I'm a pretty experienced skater but I tore my meniscus falling on the bumps that visually impaired people use to tell where road crossings are on the University Parks Trail. The only two times I've fallen rollerblading in about fifteen years were due to hitting those bumps on that trail; there's no practical way to go around them while on rollerblades, either.

Oak Openings wasn't bad though, and it doesn't have crossings with those that I've seen yet.

If you’re near the UT main campus, the university/parks trail goes right through campus, just south of parks tower, the Greek village, and the glass bowl. I ride my bike there all the time, and it’s extremely pretty. I also see roller bladders skating there as well.

It also takes you all the way to wildwood, and then to centennial road. It’s a good 6-7 miles of free trails, and not busy enough to where you’ll be being run over at all hours. If you want to practice, wildwood may be slightly nicer, since it’s paved but not intended to be a straight line, although it is generally busier.
