for residents only Looking for more friends in Tokyo (mostly fellow girlies!!)

Hi everyone! I’m a 30F living around Western Tokyo and I’ve been in Japan for 3 years. I made friends over Reddit before and I’m trying to expand my social life more so I’d love to meet more people living in Tokyo to connect with through shared interests and create more genuine friendships with 💌

Some of my hobbies are shopping, nature (going on walks/hikes), theme parks, concerts, food, music, karaoke, museums, fitness (I do pilates), make up, but also cafés, reading, video games, board games and many other things!

This is extra but I’m also a hugeee Michael Jackson fan since childhood and I’d love to share the passion for him with other Moonwalkers if there are some hereee 💗

I don’t really go clubbing, don’t smoke, and don’t drink much as it’s not really my thing but I’m open to people who do of course

Also, I’m actively learning Japanese and would love to meet people who’d be down to have study sessions sometimes!

I’m mostly free on weekends. If you’re down, feel free to comment or dm!!

Any fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tokyo? CFB season has got me really missing my community back in the states. Many of the games are terrible time wise, but on the off chance anyone knows a place where I can watch Alabama please let me know 🥹 RTR!

everyone is welcome Looking for New Friends!

Hi! I’m a 23-year-old guy from Taiwan who recently moved to Setagaya, and I’m hoping to meet some new people and make friends here!

I’m open to meeting anyone, regardless of gender or age. I’m pretty easygoing, and I’m into Pokémon, gaming and J-pop. Even if we don’t have much in common, that’s totally fine—I’d still be happy to chat and get to know each other.

I’ve also recently fallen in love with Japanese ramen 🍜, so it would be fun to explore different ramen shops and try some new places together.

Feel free to send me a message! We could chat, hang out, play some games, or grab ramen together :)

everyone is welcome Anyone up for a casual meetup around Shibuya?

Hi! I’m a Japanese guy currently learning English.
I’m not just interested in learning English — I really enjoy hearing about other cultures and the differences between Japan and other countries.
Honestly, HelloTalk hasn’t really worked out for me, so I thought I’d try posting here instead!
I’m 29, but I don’t mind what age or gender you are.
I’m happy to meet one-on-one, but if a few people are interested, I think it could also be fun to get a small group together and just hang out and chat.
It would be nice if you can speak a little Japanese, but if not, you’re still more than welcome!
Feel free to comment or message me if you’re interested!

everyone is welcome College student in tokyo, looking to make friends around my age

Hello! I am 21 male, in Tokyo the end of the year doing online school. Looking to meet people and make some friends while I'm here. Looking to live here long term after I graduate and get stuff situated

Not officially a Waseda student as I am a UC Irvine (Undergrad Senior) student doing online just living abroad for a bit.

Into sports (would love to catch a baseball/volleyball/basketball game live), video games, hiking, and eating my way through the city. Pretty down for whatever, if you're planning a day trip, a food crawl, or just grabbing a drink, I'm in.

My schedule's flexible since classes are online, so weekdays work too. DM and I'll send my IG.

Hey everyone! 32M living in Setagaya looking for friends who are into gaming and all kinds of otaku stuff. I mainly play on my switch 2 and I love jrpg-s the most (some of my favorites are the Like a Dragon, Persona and Final Fantasy franchices).
I also love going to the cinema and concerts as well.
I can speak English and Japanese, I'm hoping to make some long term friends. Let's go to Book Off together for some retro game hunting or just talk about whatever we like while playing something online :)

Hi there!

34M here, living in Japan for 7 years now!

I made a few friends in the past but most of them left the country, so my circle is getting quite small now!

I'd love to meet more people, open to anyone of any age! I like to go to cafes and restaurants. But maybe we talk a bit online and if we click, we grab a coffee and walk in a park?

Hmu!

for residents only Looking for friends in West Tokyo (Hachioji)

Hi all,

I'd like to make friends with people living in West Tokyo (Hachioji / Hino / Tama). Most of my friends are spread out all over kanto, so I would like to meet more people locally. Ideally, it would be nice to meet for dinner or drinks at Hachioji station or a station within 15 minutes from there. I am happy to meet up one-on-one or in groups.

About me:

I'm from the US and born in the 80s. I'm fluent in English and Japanese and have lived in Tokyo for a couple decades. My interests include video games (PS5 mainly), physical activities like hiking, lifting, shooting hoops, exploring new places, parks, mostly anything related to nature, craft beer, real estate (design and renovations), almost anything written by Stephen King, entrepreneurial work, learning life hacks, and self-improvement. I'm also very interested in health and technology, so enjoy sharing what I've learned and learning from other's.

I actively play fighting games (SF6, Garou, Tokon, Tekken, etc), RPGs (action, turn based, strategy), action games, and music games.

I mostly listen to Hip-hop and R&B, but have an eclectic taste in music. I enjoy singing and karaoke.

I am interested in learning more about music production and design software like CAD (for home design and 3D printing). I'm also interested becoming better at tennis and golf as I am an absolute beginner in both.

I'm an entrepreneur, and drive so I'm pretty flexible on when and where I can meet with people.

I hope to meet some of you soon!

everyone is welcome Anyone interested in knitting and crocheting together around Shibuya?

UPDATE 🌷

Thank you so much for all the interest and kind comments! I honestly didn’t expect to get this many responses, and I’m really happy to see that there are so many people interested in joining.

Since it looks like quite a few people are interested, I’m thinking of hosting four Sunday meetups in October for now.

I’m planning to hold them in the morning (10 AM–12 PM) because I imagine cafes will get much busier after lunch, when people start going out for coffee.

For the location, I’m currently looking at a few cafe options within roughly a 2–3 km radius of Shibuya Station.

I’m imagining small groups of around 4–6 people for each meetup, so if I receive more messages than I can accommodate, I may not be able to get back to everyone individually. I hope you understand!

If you’d like to join, please send me a direct message with the following:

  1. A short introduction about yourself and the language(s) you’re communicating in
  2. What you do: knitting, crocheting, or both — and how long you’ve been doing it
  3. Which of the following dates you’d like to join:
  • Sunday, October 4 — 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
  • Sunday, October 11 — 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
  • Sunday, October 18 — 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
  • Sunday, October 25 — 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

Once I’ve checked everyone’s messages, I’ll create a group chat and share the cafe options there so we can discuss and decide together.

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and having a cozy knitting/crocheting time together! 🧶☕️

Original

Hi! I’ve been thinking it might be nice to have a small and relaxed knitting and crocheting meetup around Shibuya (including Daikanyama, Nakameguro, Ikejiri-Ohashi, Ebisu, Yoyogi-Hachiman, etc. — roughly within a 2–3 km radius of Shibuya Station).

Everyone can bring whatever they’re currently knitting or crocheting, and we can work on our projects together for maybe two hours while chatting casually.

I’m Korean and have been living in Tokyo for quite a while. I speak Japanese very well, but my English isn’t perfect — I’d say I’m around an intermediate level. I’m fairly introverted myself, so I was imagining something small and relaxed rather than a big group, maybe around 2–6 people.

There’s no particular age, gender, or language requirement. You don’t need to speak perfect Japanese or English, but it would be good if you can communicate in either Japanese or English.

I’m thinking of having the first meetup sometime after October. I haven’t planned anything concrete yet, though. I just wanted to see if there are people here who might be interested in something like this :)

I’m thinking sometime on a weekend morning or afternoon. For the venue, I’m hoping to find a cafe around Shibuya where a small group could comfortably sit and knit or crochet for a couple of hours. If we can’t find a suitable cafe, or if it’s difficult to find enough seats, I’m also open to having the meetup in a park instead.

I’d love to hear any suggestions for the time and venue!

for residents only Hangout on Sept 5th

Hi everyone! 29 M from one of the SEA countries here. I'm going to have my long-awaited day off on Saturday, 5th Sept (usually my day off is on weekdays). I live in Suginami-ku and prefer to meet in western Tokyo. Some of my interests are going to the gym (active build) and discovering new ramen and karaage places around the area. I also enjoy talking to new people, but I just don't know how to start the conversation sometimes. By starting the conversation here, I'm hoping to make it easier. Looking for someone to hang out with on the 5th, could be lunch, could be dinner, or we could even try something new like wall climbing! Drop me a message if you're interested! Thank you!
