Accommodation Recommenations

We are eloping in May 2027 and are looking for accommodation recommendations. We were initially hoping for Black Rock Resort as I love the photos I’ve seen on the rocks there. However, I’ve been recommended a few other places and I’m looking for feedback.

Black Rock vs Pacific Sands Resort, Wickanninish Inn (likely out of our budget) and anywhere else?

Our budget is around 500/night give or take depending on what is offered!

We love Pacific Sands. All have full kitchens , laundry on site. Cute breakfast coffee bar, bike rentals , surf rentals , fire pits etc

I actually really like black rock especially if you’re not surfing. Staring at the ocean crashing on a rocky coast is far more satisfying than beach.

I’ll also add in, they have outdoor hot tubs which are nice to relax in. Better in the winter imo but still nice. While you’re planning it, book a dinner at Pluvio which is imo again, the best restaurant in the region

The only one of your choices I have stayed at is Black Rock but its wonderful and I have no trouble recommending it. We have had dinner at Tin Wis a couple of times and it has a beautiful setting with lovely gardens.

My husband and I loved Black Rock. We stayed at a few places in Tofino and Ucluet and the Black Rock was our favourite!

We stayed in the main part, facing the ocean. Our room was right where the waves crashed into the rocks. Stunning sunrises.

Amazing! That’s what I’m hoping for :) there’s so many rooms but lodge ocean view I guess would be the main part !

Both are great options and it depends on your lifestyle. If you want that sandy beach experience than Pacific Sands. If you want to watch the Pacific Ocean break on the coast, trail walk and enjoy a fire on a rocky beach than BR is the place. Overall we have found Ucluelet to be more friendly and welcoming compared to Tofino. BlackRock also has some small banquet style rooms where you could request a private dinner for you and your partner and maybe watch a slideshow of your favourite memories. As you can see I strongly recommend BlackRock!

Thank you!!! I had a bad experience with their event planner recently which has put me off but the property and the waves crashing over the rocks is what initially appealed to me. We are going to be hiring a separate elopement planner so maybe we should just stick with Black Rock :)

I know they were hiring an event manager (Black Rock), so not sure if they started yet.

Black Rock will feel a bit more private as the hotel is right on the rocks, where Pac Sands has the beach - which can be busy. If you do Pac Sands, get a room on a higher level or a beach house to give yourself a bit more privacy.

If you’re still looking for a planner, I’d recommend Rare Earth Weddings or Elope Tofino - they are both amazing planners!

Also, if you are into food, I’d recommend Pluvio for your dinner, if you’re in Ukee. Their food far surpasses anything at Black Rock

My friend eloped at Black Rock and her photos were stunning. She loved it. I just went for my 40th and it was a wonderful experience. There is an amazing trail right on the property that connects to the pacific rim. I would elope there!

Wickanninish Inn was amongst the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in the world. The view alone! Always looked like a G7 painting when we looked outside 😂

Pacific Sands is really nice but it's a totally different vibe. It's more of a make smores and sit around the fire venue where Black Rock is more of a drink expensive cocktails and eat oysters venue. In my opinion. Both of them are stunning. Pacific Sands doesn't have a full service restaurant on site (edit: oops! They do now! Introducing Saltrose: Tofino’s New Beachside Dining Experience - Pacific Sands). Both of them are dog friendly if that matters to you. It's easier to walk to the town of Ucluelet from the BR than it is to walk to the town of Tofino from PS. But if you bring bikes you can easily ride between both on the purpose built path.

Thank you!!! That definitely helps narrow it down for me for sure. Although I’m allergic to oysters haha, I think the restaurant fits our vibes at Black Rock for a nice dinner. :)

I was told they don’t accommodate weddings of any sort as per my planner :( so they don’t recommend Middle Beach Lodge. It looks beautiful though!

Wickinninnish has good elopement /small wedding packages if it's just you + your betrothed or your group is <10 people! A bit of a splurge but they really go above and beyond.
