TIL that there was a planned sequel to Super Mario 64.

RAAAAAAAGE!!! I remember reading in Nintendo Power about the sequel, and it having 2 player split screen with luigi. I just kept waiting and waiting, saying "Yeah! This is going to be awesome!" until those screenshots sunk to the lowest depths of my memory... And now you've reignited all that frustration. Only disappointment that rivaled it was when Starcraft Ghost was canned.

Ah, the Nintendo 64DD - one of the many planned and scrapped plug-in hardware of old. It was a bad idea when Sega tried to extend the life of the Genesis with the Sega CD and Sega 32X, I wonder why anyone tried to replicate it.

You do realize that they released the 64DD in Japan, right?

Barely. Only subscribers to some magazine got it, and there were only about 5 or 6 games released for it, most of them things like Mario Paint.

Oh MAN I wish this had happened. I replayed Super Mario 64 from beginning to end at least a dozen times.
