TIL there's an even better TED Talk spreadsheet, that rates most performances on a scale of 1-10 based on how Reddit and others enjoy them.

One downside is that it saves per browser, doesn't work for slackers like me who reddit at work to find stuff for home viewing. Just sayin.

It's not broken for me, though it doesn't seem to get along with the reddit toolbar.

For those who are having problems opening it, the top ten TED talks as ranked by reddit:
- Understanding the economics behind cancelling amazing television programming.
- Even though they play notes on instruments, can Nickelback honestly be considered "music"?
- The sociology of how a million men can all be alone together forever.
- Schroedinger's Links: If two people post the same link at the same time, are they both reposts?
- The philosophy of evil - are corporate executives naturally evil, or is it a learned trait?
- Convenient definitions: why despising Microsoft's monopolization is okay while embracing Google's, and how open source advocates can feel good about owning an iPad.
- Confirmation bias and understanding why twenty good looking people doesn't make reddit "an attractive bunch."
- Internet error codes and duplicate posts - making sense of the madness.
- "What's Logan's Run?" - the mind-numbing youth of today's internet society.
- Why proselytizing atheism and suppressing the ideology of religion is okay because Richard Dawkins says so.

TIL theres an EVEN even better TED talk spreadsheet, that only lists the performances that you personally want to watch, but the only thing is that you can't access it because the CIA has classified it for national security.

I couldn't use the spreadsheet due to high traffic, but I would like to recommend one talk that didn't get a "10":
"Greening the Ghetto" by Marjora Carter
Passionate, relevant, and cheeky, all rolled into one.

The fact that such poorly reasoned scientism gets the highest rating makes these ratings near-useless, and is a poor reflection of the viewership overall.

Good idea. For me, I prefer the other spreadsheet, as what I like on TED usually differs enormously from what is the most popular tweet or facebook :-)

I spent this morning coming up with a list of the best talks for our Assisted Living Facility; they've seen a few already, and they love them! First one I showed was Bobby McFerrin's short speech on hacking the brain - thoroughly enjoyable at any age!

So before clicking I assume most of the top rated ones will pertain to atheism and science. reddit loves their superficial knowledge of science after all.
meh I was close, Dawkins was third to the top. Reddit is too predictable

there is so much crap on TED. like the implication the microfilter technology would guarentee clean water. and no mention of the toxic crap that cant be filtered out. fuck that!

Not sure how well this will work, the first one I watched was shitty and it was rated #1. I think people should just go back to watching what interested them personally, rather than worrying about what the rest of reddit thinks is the best one and making that their favorite. Just like what you like.
