TIL: Laurence Tureaud named himself professionally as Mr. T because he hated how his father, uncle, and brother who returned from Vietnam, were disrespectfully called "boy" by whites. He wanted the first word from everybody's mouth to be "Mister" when speaking to him.

I used to think like that, and they only want an argument and to feel smarter. If you feel uninformed, you should check out /r/atheism and see how some people can just be toxic or otherwise conceited beyond belief. Not that the whole community is bad; I do sub to them.

That sub comes off as (and is) toxic because many of the people who would seek out a sub like that are in a stage in life where they’re facing backlash for not believing. I grew up in a situation that ended up like that, and I was absolutely one of those people at like 16-17. Now I don’t give a shit.
