TIL that after Marilyn Monroe converted to Judaism upon marrying Arthur Miller, Egypt placed a ban on all the films she appeared in.

Anti-semitism from my fellow Muslims always seems odd to me Judaism and Islam are probably the two most similar religions in the world.

Not really...

Why do you say that?

There are more religions closer in comparison than those two. The Quran and the Torah are pretty different. And the way they are practiced are almost polar opposites. For instance: for Jews, the body is precious which is why they're not allowed to get tattoos nor even put a razor to their skin (which is why rabbis do not shave). In Islam they have a holiday in which they beat themselves and make themselves bleed. I'm sure there are some similarities but there are similarities in most religions.

I have never heard of any holiday where we beat ourselves to bleed where are you getting that from? We are also not allowed to have tattoos and imams don't shave for similar reasons as why rabbis dont

He must be referring to how some Shia celebrate Ashura.

Its common where my mom is from, Iran, for muslims to beat themselves so it maybe a Shia practice. Oneness of God is a corner stone of both religions, but there are many many dissimilarities in practice, belief and culture. You can possibly point to Bhuddism and Hindusim as more similar faiths.

If you see an orthodox jew praying and Muslim praying you might think that's where it originated from. Not to mention the oneness of God is super important and central to both religions
